Update: Jon Jones is still in jail, hearing set for tomorrow morning

We reported yesterday morning that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had turned himself in to the Albuquerque PD, this after he received five traffic citations that had violated his parole sentence. According to new reports from both Ariel Helwani and Marc Raimondi, “Bones” is still in jail and has a hearing in front of a judge scheduled for 8am tomorrow morning (March 31).

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is in trouble with the law once again. However, Jones is claiming this incident is the result of a lying Albuquerque police officer. On Monday, it was revealed in a police officer body cam video that the former champ was given five traffic citations from an Albuquerque police officer that has been previously accused of racial profiling.

Earlier today we reported that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones had turned himself in to Albuquerque PD and is now being held at the county jail. Jones had recently received 5 traffic citations, among them were tickets for drag racing, and an illegal modification to his car’s exhaust.

Jones was recently pulled over by an Albuquerque police officer and given five traffic citations. At Wednesday’s NSAC hearing, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier expressed his concern over Herb Dean being the referee for his UFC 197 light heavyweight title fight with Jon Jones on April 23rd. Cormier explained that in the pair’s first meeting at UFC 182, Dean allowed the pair to remain clinched for what DC believed was an extended period of time. After Cormier voiced his concerns over Dean being the referee, the NSAC ultimately decided to leave Dean as the referee.

At UFC 196, Conor McGregor suffered the first defeat of his UFC career at the hands of Nate Diaz, ending his 7-fight unbeaten streak inside the Octagon, as well as his 15 fight MMA win streak. After the fight McGregor was gracious in defeat, offering no excuses for why he lost, and admitting that he panicked which resulted in an inefficient use of his energy. McGregor revealed post-fight that he would be returning to featherweight to defend his championship belt at UFC 200, however the UFC has yet to announce an opponent.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier appear to have an utter hate for one another. The two erupted into a physical confrontation at a press conference ahead of their fight at UFC 182 back in 2015 and you can bet UFC President Dana White was nervous as they faced off recently at the “UFC Unstoppable” presser. With their rematch scheduled to take place at UFC 197 on April 23rd, the two are still as competitive with one another as the last time around. However, Jones has a respect for Cormier and revealed to ‘Tiki and Tierney on CBS Sports Radio‘ that he holds no hatred for his opponent (transcribed by Mixed Martial Arts).
