Jon Jones Is Still in UFC's USADA Pool and Was Tested This Month
Justin Golightly - October 24, 2017
While we’ve got a couple of things splattered here and there for UFC 219, we’ve had nothing announced that screams “huge end of the year” card. If Jon Jones hadn’t of had his gut-punch anti-doping violation, we could have gotten a superfight to end all superfights with Jones challenging Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title potentially at UFC 218. But, just like the Rolling Stones song goes, you can’t always get what you want. The news here instead is that Jon Jones is still being tested. He just successfully passed a test earlier this month. USADA still testing Jon Jones, as case pends. Records show he was tested 4th quarter of 2017. I’m told it was 10/11, results were clean.
Heated Cain Velasquez goes off on Jon Jones
Tom Taylor - October 24, 2017
Shortly after Jon Jones knocked out Daniel Cormier to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight title, it was announced that he had failed a pre-fight drug test. As a result, his knockout win was overturned and the light heavyweight strap was returned to Cormier. While Cormier is once again the champ, and Jones is facing a potentially career-ending suspension, Cormier’s training partner Cain Velasquez is still pretty displeased with the way things shook out. The former heavyweight champ went off on Jon Jones during a recent media appearance in Seoul, South Korea.
VIDEO | Dana White: Jon Jones is going to end up probably being suspended for a very long time
Russell Ess - October 18, 2017
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is currently going through the process of his latest potential anti-doping violation. In August, news broke that Jones tested positive for the steroid Turinabol from his UFC 214 weigh-in day sample and has been going through the due process with USADA and the California State Athletic Commission ever since.
Dana White Buries Jon Jones in a New Interview
Justin Golightly - October 17, 2017
After waiting for far too long to see Jon Jones back in action, he waltzed back into our lives, finished Daniel Cormier in dramatic fashion, now he’s right back out. We’ve been dealing with the ramifications from Jon Jones positive test the entire summer. Instead of most likely defending his title or fighting Brock Lesnar, he’ll be at a hearing in December to prove his innocence. Recently Dana White was asked about one of the greatest fighters ever having to sit out of competition once again. CSAC’s Andy Foster told me this weekend that the hearing for Jon Jones’ banned substance failure at UFC 214 is set for Dec. in Sacramento.
Jeff Novitzky details how Jon Jones can avoid a lengthy suspension
Chris Taylor - October 6, 2017
Jon Jones could potentially return to the octagon in 2018 if everything goes his way. “Bones” was stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title shortly following his knockout victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, this after he came back positive for banned substances in a drug test administered by USADA.

Russell Ess - September 28, 2017
Daniel Cormier is still continuing to take the high road with his biggest rival Jon Jones going through the due process with his potential anti-doping violation stemming from their UFC 214 fight. Cormier recently spoke with Fight Hype on where his mindset is at and why.
Miesha Tate to Jon Jones: You can’t use ignorance as an excuse
Tom Taylor - September 25, 2017
Shortly after reclaiming the UFC light heavyweight title with a knockout of Daniel Cormier, Jon Jones failed a USADA-administered drug test and lost that same title. Since then, Jones and his team have maintained that he did not intentionally ingest any banned substances. In the opinion of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, however, ignorance is no excuse. “You’re either clean or you’re not. There is no gray zone when it comes to full contact sports, period,” Miesha Tate said on MMA Tonight on Sirius XM (h/t Bloody Elbow). “I don’t care if USADA says, Miesha, don’t eat Cheerios the week of your fight. Guess what, I ain’t eating Cheerios. That’s the rules. They make it so the sport is safe and clean, and we need to follow them.”
Don Frye Talks Jon Jones and USADA 'Catching Who They Want to Catch'
Justin Golightly - September 22, 2017
Things have been relatively quiet on the Jon Jones front ever since his B sample came back positive, aside from a few superfights that we have learned will pass us by. By now, his team are gearing up to defend themselves in a legal battle to prove Jon Jones was indeed innocent. From the very beginning, there was talks of sabotage or tainting. We’ve heard countless experts, media, and other fighters weigh-in on the Jon Jones controversy, but no one quite talks about it like the living legend Don Frye. “Well, I mean, [Jon Jones] did it to himself, unfortunately. Something got caught. And not everybody gets caught but a lot more people do it than don’t, I’m sure. And Jon’s the greatest fighter to enter the cage but he’s just got a black cloud hanging over his head. He’s he’s gotta be free of, you know, he’s treading water but he’s got a couple of anchors tied to his ankles and it keeps dragging him down.”
VIDEO | Daniel Cormier comments on if he still wants another fight with Jon Jones
Russell Ess - September 18, 2017
Just when we thought the saga between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones had come to an end, there was another twist thrown into the mix. Following the outcome of their UFC 214 UFC light heavyweight title fight where Jones became the first opponent to KO and finish Cormier, Jones was flagged for the second time by USADA for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation. Both Jones’ A and B samples tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol and the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) overturned Jones’ win to a no-contest. With that, Cormier said that UFC President Dana White told him that he would also be reinstated as the UFC light heavyweight champion.
Daniel Cormier Shares His Conflicted Feelings as a Reinstated Champion
Justin Golightly - September 16, 2017
After losing his title to Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier was unfortunately dragged through another situation involving his opponent being flagged for an anti-doping violation. The title was removed from his waist, placed on Jones’, now it’s been taken away and given right back. When he became champion by beating Anthony Johnson, some fans didn’t accept Cormier as the true champion. Now, Cormier finds himself back in the same predicament. On the record books, it’s like the fight never happened. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it happened for Daniel Cormier. “The people around me, my friends, they tell me that nothing has changed because if [Jon Jones] was not fighting completely clean, then there was no fight. But I was there. I fought. In my mind, I lost a competition, but if it was an unfair competition — I shouldn’t have been in it. It’s a hard question. I guess I do feel like the champion, because I know I was the champion before all this happened. I don’t know. It’s a difficult question to ask someone like me. My manager, my wife, my coaches — it’s easy for them to answer. For me, it’s a tough question.”
Daniel Cormier releases a very classy statement on Jon Jones
Russell Ess - September 15, 2017
Daniel Cormier stated earlier this week on UFC Tonight that Dana White told him that he would be reinstated as the UFC light heavyweight champion. The news comes following the result of Jon Jones’ positive B sample and the California Athletic Commission overturning Jones’ initial UFC 214 KO win over Cormier to a no-contest result. Cormier has mostly steered clear of laying judgement on jones but did have some words for his rival while announcing the news of being reinstated as the champion. However, on Friday, the UFC star released a very classy statement regarding Jones and his situation on social media.
Jon Jones' Coach Hints at a Huge Lawsuit if He Popped From Tainted Supplements
Justin Golightly - September 14, 2017
All the test results are in. Two urine tests and a blood test. The UFC has moved forward in stripping Jon Jones of the title, now Daniel Cormier has been given the belt once again due to a situation involving Jones having the title taken away. To this day, Jon Jones is still claiming innocence and most likely a legal battle will follow. Coach Mike Winkeljohn spoke to Submission Radio about what could happen if this all turns out to be because of a tainted supplement or an substance not listed in the ingredients like last time. “Oh, I would [sue]. I mean, we’re talking about changing a man’s life. I mean, how much money can he make? How much is his career worth? Is it worth $100 million? I mean, that’s gonna’ bankrupt a company. I would be the first one to say, hey look, here’s the deal, if you guys are in the supplement industry and you have a tendency to put anabolics and these different substances into products just so that the kids go, ‘Yeah, this stuff works,’ and then the FDA coming along and says, ‘Hey, you put that in that in there,’ you either have a tendency to pull it out real fast and so people won’t do it anymore, but you’ve already sold the product and they keep selling it and they open up another product or they file bankruptcy and do it again. Supplement companies are notorious for it if you go back and start reading some papers on them, and it’s not right. This is not right when they do those type of things just to sell products.”
Daniel Cormier on Jon Jones' situation: 'It’s a death sentence'
Russell Ess - September 14, 2017
Daniel Cormier has been reinstated as the UFC light heavyweight champion and Jon Jones can no longer be found on the latest official UFC rankings. All of this comes as a result of Jones’ B sample coming out with the same results as his A sample from after the UFC 214 weigh-ins, which was a positive test result for the anabolic steroid Turinabol. Jones, however, is still due the appropriate adjudication of his case with USADA.
Coach Winkeljohn is Scared a 4-Year Suspension May End Jon Jones' Career
Justin Golightly - September 14, 2017
The news rocked the MMA universe yesterday as Jon Jones’ B sample results were released, now everything seems all too real. There are multiple consequences that the now former UFC light heavyweight champion could face, but by far the worst is a suspension of four years. Daniel Cormier voiced his concern earlier that a four-year suspension would mean he’d never be able to challenge Jon Jones again. Coach Mike Winkeljohn recently appeared on Submission Radio to voice his concern about Jones fighting again if the max suspension is handed out. “If it’s a four-year thing, I think it could be just that kind of devastation [that stops Jon from coming back]. Like I said, it’s not fair, you know? He messed up in that maybe he took something that someone said was fine, but he’s not doing it thinking, ‘I’m taking steroids or something,’ you know, and that’s the part that’s terrible. He’d be devastated at four years. Who knows, you know? That’s just a long time to just spiral downhill, where bad things can happen. So, that one scares me. If it’s a year [suspension] Jon Jones will come back and dominate the world again, I do believe.”
Updated UFC rankings reflect chaos at light heavyweight
Tom Taylor - September 14, 2017
Earlier this week, we learned that Jon Jones’ B sample confirmed that he had indeed ingested the banned substance Turinabol in advance of his UFC 214 light heavyweight title fight with Daniel Cormier. Yesterday, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) overturned Jones’ UFC 214 knockout win over Daniel Cormier, rendering it a no contest. With this development, the UFC moved to strip Jones of the light heavyweight title, and reinstate Cormier as the champion. Needless to say, things have been crazy. The latest UFC rankings, updated Wednesday, reflect this craziness, as Jones has been ejected from both the light heavyweight and pound-for-pound rankings. Cormier, meanwhile, has been elevated to a bizarre “0” ranking at light heavyweight, reflecting that fact that’s he’s no longer simply the number-one-contender, but apparently not the champion either…
BREAKING | Daniel Cormier is Once Again the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion
Justin Golightly - September 13, 2017
The Jon Jones roller coaster has finally made one of its biggest loopty-loops, but after this they’ll be much more to come. Earlier today, the B sample of Jones’ came back positive for Turinabol, concluding that there was no error in the first sample. The MMA world has been waiting with bated breath ever since his alleged anti-doping violation was first announced. There was hope after his blood test came back clean, but it looks like the UFC is moving forward after these last results as Jon Jones will prepare for his upcoming legal journey. On UFC Tonight, it was made official that Daniel Cormier is once again UFC light heavyweight champion. https://twitter.com/TrentReinsmith/status/908122319201193984
Jon Jones' UFC 214 win over Daniel Cormier has been overturned
Tom Taylor - September 13, 2017
Back in July, in the main event of the stacked UFC 214, former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones stepped into the cage with reigning champ Daniel Cormier in an effort to reclaim the title he never truly lost. Though Cormier had some success in the early portions of the fight, Jones ultimately succeeded on his mission to reclaim light heavyweight gold, bludgeoning Cormier with a third-round head-kick and polishing him off with a meteor shower of ground-and-pound. It was a feel-good moment for the returning Jones, whose recent career has been marred by major controversies, both in and out of the cage. Unfortunately, Jones’ causes for celebration were smothered almost immediately, as it was revealed that he’d failed a drug test administered on the night of UFC 214 weigh-ins.
Jon Jones' B sample results revealed
Russell Ess - September 12, 2017
The results of Jon Jones’ B sample were revealed late Tuesday. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto was the first to report that sources confirmed Jones’ B sample came in testing positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol, which is the same banned substance from his A sample.
