Laila Ali predicts Holly Holm will do “worse” to Ronda Rousey in rematch

By bjpenndotcom - February 5, 2016

Going into UFC 193 Holly Holm had the full support of the boxing community. Holm vs. Rousey was expected to be a classic style vs. style matchup that saw Rousey attempting to take the fight to the ground while Holm attempted to keep it standing.

Instead Rousey came out looking to strike with Holm, which surprised many given Holm’s decorated past as a boxer and kickboxer. An early cross left Rousey wobbled and threw her off for the remainder of the fight while Holm put on a striking clinic. In addition, Holm even managed to land a takedown of her own on Rousey.

With Holm now the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and her first title defense coming up at UFC 196 on March 5th, a rematch with Rousey is further away than it is close.

Despite that, everyone is talking about how a rematch between Holm and Rousey. Chael Sonnen spoke to Laila Ali to discuss how she thinks a rematch would go:

“I personally do not think that she’ll beat Holly Holm [in a rematch]. I think that if she fought her again, then the same thing and worse will happen. Holly Holm was just getting warmed up. You know what I’m saying? She was just getting warmed up. She had nerves, too. This was her big moment.”
