Speaking to TSN recently, St-Pierre explained that he’d return for an easy payday, or for a fight that positively impacts his legacy — like a showdown with undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

After dropping his last fight to Rafael dos Anjos, in a bout that served as his welterweight debut, “The Motown Phenom” is now set to train at TriStar with Georges St-Pierre for his next fight.

Georges St-Pierre is retired. That being said, a large portion of the MMA community is still clinging to the hope that the former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion will eventually dust off his gloves and return to the Octagon — perhaps in pursuit of a third title against UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. UFC President Dana White says that won’t be happening, as St-Pierre didn’t hold up his end of the deal after battling Michael Bisping for the middleweight title in 2017. He doesn’t seem to trust the Canadian after this incident.

That being said, the lightweight champion seems to think that the time for this matchup is drawing to a close, as St-Pierre is already 38 years old.

Although Georges St-Pierre officially announced his retirement from the UFC back in February, his long-time head trainer at Tristar gym still believes he could one day return to the Octagon. Speaking on his YouTube Channel, Zahabi admitted that the welterweight legend is still training in his hometown of Montreal, and that he thinks St-Pierre could make a return to the Octagon if the right offer materializes.

The long rumored fight between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champ Dustin Poirier is now official for UFC 242. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who spoke with Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, this fight will mark the first obligation on a brand new UFC contract for the Russian champion. More interestingly still, this contract allegedly includes a clause in the event that Nurmagomedov ever gets his long desired fight with Georges St-Pierre.

From the sounds of it, former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre could be the next mixed martial arts star to make the jump to pro wrestling — although perhaps only on a one-off basis. St-Pierre claims WWE approached him at the ESPN awards, and that he directed them to contact his management. Based on his comments, it seems like some kind of deal could potentially be reached with the pro wrestling institution, although the Canadian legend clarified that he is not interested in a full-time wrestling career.

I’m very happy to do it,” St-Pierre said in the English portion of his retirement message in Montreal. “In combat sports you should retire on top, that’s what I’m going to do.
