Daniel Cormier forced to break up Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt backstage

bjpenndotcom - December 20, 2016

While UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and top ranked bantamweight Cody Garbrandt aren’t scheduled to share the Octagon until December 30th, the pair nearly had their fight for Cruz’s bantamweight title backstage at UFC 202 back in August. According to UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, Cruz and Garbrandt came face-to-face backstage, and got in each others faces as tensions continued to rise before they were officially scheduled to fight at UFC 207. When no one stepped between the two men to break things up before they got out of hand, DC leapt into action and prevented tensions from reaching a boiling point.

Jon Jones Explains Why He'd Rather Fight "Rumble" than "DC"

Tom Taylor - October 26, 2016

On December 10, in the main event of UFC 206, Daniel Cormier will defend the UFC light heavyweight title against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. As significant as this bout is, however, it will have a shadow cast over it by one man: former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones won the divisional crown in early 2011 with a third-round TKO of light heavyweight legend Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. From there, he cut through the division like a buzzsaw, fending off game challengers in Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans, Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen, Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira and Cormier, experiencing only a few moments of adversity along the way. By the time he’d defended his title against Cormier, he stood at as not only the greatest light heavyweight ever, but also one of the greatest fighters ever – period.

bjpenndotcom - October 22, 2016

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is undoubtably one of the most polarizing figures in the MMA world due to his brash persona, as well as incredible volume of trash talk. While McGregor has been criticized for his constant trash talk of fighters, his fighting persona has brought an incredible amount of attention to the sport of MMA, aiding him in setting Pay-Per View records, and setting records for UFC events with the highest gate. Ahead of UFC 205, where McGregor has the chance to make history and become the first simultaneous 2-division UFC champion with a win over UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier believes McGregor is to the UFC, what ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin was to the WWE.

bjpenndotcom - October 12, 2016

UFC light heavyweight title contender Anthony Johnson is one of the most feared men on the entire UFC roster due to his the incredible one-punch knockout power that he possesses. Over the course of Johnson’s 27 fight professional career, Johnson has only gone the distance six times, winning every time. In addition, every single victory Johnson has earned in his UFC career, with the exception of two, have come by way of KO/TKO. Ahead of his UFC 206 light heavyweight title fight with champion Daniel Cormier, Johnson has been on a tear of the 205-pound division, going on a 3-fight win streak that saw him KO Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader, and most recently Glover Teixeira at UFC 202 in just 13 seconds.

And while Rumble’s incredible knockout power makes a different outcome very possible in the rematch, Cormier is confident he’ll come out on top again.
