Dana White says Leon Edwards was offered three different opponents for UFC 300 and said yes to all of them

UFC CEO Dana White has said that Leon Edwards was offered three different opponents during UFC 300 negotiations.

Leon Edwards

Over the course of the last 18 months, Leon Edwards has stood tall as the UFC welterweight champion. He knocked out Kamaru Usman to claim the crown and since then, he’s successfully defended the belt against both Usman and Colby Covington.

The expectation for many was that he’d defend it once again at UFC 300 – most likely against Belal Muhammad. However, with less than two months to go until fight night, there’s been no official announcement made.

During last night’s post-UFC 298 press conference, Dana White spoke candidly about how great ‘Rocky’ has been during negotiations for his next fight.

White praises Edwards

“In this business it’s about taking opportunities – headlining UFC 300, with all the buzz and all the energy around it. Let me say this. Leon Edwards, Leon Edwards has had like three opponents throughout this thing. Leon Edwards doesn’t say no to anybody. This kid is an absolute stud. He’s had like three opponents thrown at him during UFC 300 [negotiations] – yes, yes, yes. [He] was willing to take on anybody, man. The kid is an absolute stud. Leon, thank you, much respect.”

One thing we know to be true about Leon Edwards is that he’s never backed down from a challenge. Hopefully, we’ll get the chance to see him compete in the Octagon sooner rather than later as his star power continues to grow in the UFC.

Who do you believe the three opponents were that he was offered? Do you still think there’s a chance that he will appear on the UFC 300 card? If not, when will he return? Let us know your thoughts, BJPENN Nation!
