Conor McGregor posts on social media after being stripped of title and doesn’t seem to be bothered at all
UFC superstar Conor McGregor was the first fighter in history to be the champion of two UFC weight classes at the same time.
With his historic win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 that won him the UFC lightweight title while still maintaining the UFC featherweight title, “The Notorious” marked another record to his name and did so with an absolutely brilliant performance.
However, McGregor’s reign as the double champion did not last long as it was announced over the weekend that Irishman “relinquished” his featherweight belt, which made McGregor’s rival, UFC interim featherweight champion Jose Aldo, the undisputed champion of 145.
UFC President Dana White stated multiple times prior to UFC 205 that if McGregor did win the lightweight belt from Alvarez, he would have to decide which division’s belt he would vacate. McGregor has not yet stated that he did, in fact, decide to relinquish the 145 title or if the UFC stripped him of it without any conversation.
With McGregor still quiet on the subject surrounding the featherweight title and no longer being the simultaneous two-division champion, it doesn’t seem to be bothering the UFC star.
McGregor took to social media on Monday, posting a photo of himself and his girlfriend Dee Devlin. The post was simply captioned, “At the Valet,” as the happy couple posed with a big smile on both of their faces with their announced baby on the way.
McGregor stated at the UFC 205 post-fight press conference that he will not be competing in the Octagon again until his baby is born, which is due in May 2017. Another demand “The Notorious” made following his historic UFC 205 win was that he wanted equity in the UFC if they wanted him to keep competing for the promotion.
Obviously, there are some big negotiations that will be taking place between the promotion and their biggest draw. As for now, it surely looks like “The Notorious” is in good spirits.
