UFC legend thinks Conor McGregor’s newfound faith is hurting his fighting future

Former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw believes Conor McGregor needs to tap back into the brash mindset that made him a superstar.
Conor McGregor’s UFC 329 return ended disastrously after suffering a right leg injury just seconds into his fight with Max Holloway. McGregor, who returned to the cage for the first time since UFC 264, blew out his right knee after opening up the action with a failed spinning wheel kick.
In the lead-up to UFC 329, McGregor revealed a newfound faith in Christianity that helped him through some of the toughest times during his UFC hiatus. After suffering a right leg injury, McGregor used his faith to express optimism about his fighting future.
But one UFC legend believes McGregor’s dive into religion could be hurting the persona that helped him win two UFC championships earlier in his career.
TJ Dillashaw: Conor McGregor’s ‘God’s Plan’ mantra hurting fighting future
In a recent episode of the JAXXON Podcast, former UFC champion TJ Dillashaw reacted to McGregor’s disastrous return to the Octagon.
“He did not have the aura you’re used to seeing,” Dillashaw said of McGregor.
“His face just looked scared and confused. Everyone could see it. He had the flag around him and usually everyone goes to his tune, and he’s like standing to the ref, ‘Are you greasing me? Are you greasing me?’ Like ‘What’s going on?’ Yo, that’s not him. He’s usually the f—— man. I picked Max Holloway because he was out for five years.”
“I don’t want the new Conor, ‘God’s plan.’ I want him to be the f—— man,” Dillashaw continued on McGregor. “That guy, no one can tell him f—— s—. He’s sorry for nothing. That’s the guy that’s going to get him back.” (h/t MMA Junkie)
