This past Saturday after Mickey Gall had defeated Mike Jackson on the UFC Fight Pass Prelims of ‘UFC Fight Night: Las Vegas’ Gall and CM Punk had their first staredown.

CM Punk Q&A

With Gall’s win the pair would likely fight at UFC 200 in July, however things have been put on hold according to Punk.

He spoke to MMAFighting, where he revealed that he will undergo back surgery today to correct a herniated disc, and will then face a 4-6 month recovery.

“My back has always bugged me. Figured it was just wrestling (expletive). Turns out it was.

“It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage. The next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy – nothing worked.”

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.
