As such, his opinion on the state of the UFC and the larger MMA landscape will always be very interesting. In a recent interview with Brazilian TV show Combate News, Silva weighed in on the current state of the UFC, and how things have changed since it was sold by Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta, and purchased by entertainment giant WME-IMG.

On February 11th at UFC 208, former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva will step into the Octagon for a highly anticipated showdown with middleweight prospect Derek Brunson. For Anderson Silva, he will be looking to return to the win column and secure his first win since his 2012 win over Stephan Bonnar. While Silva defeated Nick Diaz in early 2015, he failed a drug test for PEDs, and the win was overturned to a no contest. As a result, Anderson Silva is currently on a 4-fight skid that is broken into a 2-fight skid by the no contest with Diaz. Following his no contest fight with Diaz, Silva dropped a controversial unanimous decision to Michael Bisping in London, before then stepping in on just 48 hours notice to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 in July, where he dropped a unanimous decision.

There were many questions regarding how Ronda Rousey‘s striking would look leading up to the fight after having taken a year off following her UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm in November of 2015, however when Rousey stepped into the Octagon with Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, it didn’t take long for Nunes to expose Rousey’s underdeveloped striking game.

Nearly a year ago, former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva stepped into the Octagon in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: London’ to square off with fellow MMA veteran Michael Bisping. The fight went the distance, and was certainly a controversial one, with Bisping ultimately being awarded the unanimous decision win in front of his hometown fans. With that being said however, at the end of the third round, Bisping motioned to referee Herb Dean in order to get his mouthpiece back. Dean did not step in and call a timeout, and Silva capitalized, landing a flying knee that dropped ‘The Count’ as the round ended. While Silva celebrated what he thought was a win, Bisping was recovering between rounds before the start of the fourth round.

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping kicked off his remarkable 2016 campaign by earning a unanimous decision victory over former division kingpin Anderson Silva in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night 84’ on February 27 in Manchester, England. Bisping would follow up his five-round decision victory over “The Spider” by earning a short-notice first-round knockout victory over Luke Rockhold at June’s UFC 199 event, thus claiming the UFC’s coveted middleweight title.

Tim Kennedy just arrived in New York for his scheduled match against Rashad Evans on Tuesday only to find out that Evans was pulled from competition. Evans told MMA Fighting that he was in great shape and that no one needed to worry about him but was facing an issue with the athletic commission in New York that will not allow him to compete.

While interim UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo is still unhappy with the UFC brass given that they didn’t force UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor to take a fight with him after his UFC 202 majority decision win over Nate Diaz, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has taken a step back. After it was announced that Conor McGregor would be moving to lightweight to fight Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205, rather than drop back down to featherweight for a rematch with Jose Aldo, who he knocked out in 13 seconds in December of 2013, Aldo requested his release from the promotion with the intention to retire and move to another sport entirely.

Rumors are now swirling that GSP’s big announcement could be a super-fight with former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson “The Spider” Silva, which would headline the UFC 206 pay-per-view event set for December 10 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor made a few more enemies after calling nearly all of the WWE wrestlers “puss–s” recently on a UFC 202 media conference call. Even after the backlash from fans and quite a few professional wrestlers, McGregor never back peddled one bit, following up with a tweet saying that he would “slap the head off” the entire WWE roster, and would even do it “twice on Sunday’s.”
