Silva, who is a massive underdog against Cormier reached out to the UFC shortly after Cormier’s original opponent Jon Jones was pulled from the fight after being flagged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation.

Thursday evening, UFC President Dana White announced that Anderson Silva would be stepping in on short notice to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Silva is stepping in for Jon Jones, who was pulled from the card for a potential USADA anti-doping violation. The fight, which will take place on the main card, will not be a title fight due to Silva stepping in on such short notice. The fight was a rather controversial one, with Bisping losing his mouthguard midway through the fight. When Bisping went to retrieve his mouthguard from referee Herb Dean, Silva took advantage of the situation and landed a flying knee at the bell that dropped Bisping. While The Spider initially thought that the fight had ended, it hadn’t, and Bisping went on to win the fight via unanimous decision, earning him a shot at the middleweight title.

Anderson Silva and Michael Bisping fought a controversial fight back at UFC Fight Night 84, just a few months prior to Bisping becoming the UFC middleweight champion at UFC 199. Silva thought he had finished Bisping at the end of the third round and ran off jumping on the cage celebrating, but was dumbfounded when he realized referee Herb Dean did not call an end to the bout and the fight was going to the fourth round.

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva was supposed to fight Uriah Hall at UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil last month, however ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to remove his gallbladder the week of the fight. Silva set his sights on a return to the Octagon at UFC 200, hoping to avenge his loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. Chael Sonnen initially reported that Silva vs. Hall had been rebooked for UFC 200, however that is no longer the case.

Former UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva has been out of action since his UFC London loss to Michael Bisping earlier this year. ‘The Spider’ was slated to fight Uriah Hall in a highly anticipated matchup at UFC 198, however he was forced out of the bout after it was revealed that he would need his gallbladder removed. While Silva has intentions of fighting at UFC 200, there has so far been no word yet on whether or not he will be able to fight on the card.

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this past weekend at UFC 198 in his hometown of Curitiba, Brazil, however an inflamed gallbladder forced Silva off the card, and ultimately onto the operating table. ‘The Spider’ was forced to undergo surgery to have his gallbladder removed, and will be unable to train for approximately 4-6 weeks while he heals. Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva was slated to fight Uriah Hall this Saturday at UFC 198. Unfortunately for Silva, the week of the fight, he was experiencing gallbladder pain which was later diagnosed as an inflammation of his gallbladder. Silva was taken to the hospital, and had his gallbladder removed on Wednesday. Fortunately for ‘The Spider’ the recovery time is expected to be 4-6 weeks, giving him just enough time to prepare for a fight at UFC 200.
