Alexander Hernandez releases statement following UFC 324 betting controversy

UFC veteran Alexander Hernandez has released a statement following his UFC 324 fight being cancelled.
As we know, Alexander Hernandez vs Michael Johnson was cancelled due to betting irregularities. This is an issue the promotion has had to deal with in the past, and as we look ahead to the future, it certainly feels like something they will have to keep tackling in order to eradicate any problems from the sport.

Hernandez has been on a rollercoaster ride throughout the course of his career, but when he’s at his very best, he looks like someone who could go quite far. Johnson, meanwhile, has been around for a long time, and he has gone head to head with some of the very best the sport has to offer including Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier.
In response to the incident, Hernandez released the following statement on Instagram.
Hernandez discusses UFC 324 controversy
“I would never dishonor myself or this sport by not giving my absolute all in competition. I have been thru a great deal in my career to be in the auspicious position I am in. I do not take that lightly. I do not take my work or the work of others lightly.
“It is extraordinarily disheartening after a complete camp and weight cut to have a fight forfeited. Certainly from matters outside of my control. I understand the FBI is doing their job. I understand the UFC is doing their job.
“I am trying to get back to doing my job as quickly as possible. I hope this matter is resolved with expedience. I am in the prime of my career. I do not want my time stolen.”
