Alexander Volkanovski confused about Jean Silva being ‘butthurt’ following UFC 325

Alexander Volkanovski thinks Jean Silva is letting his emotions get the better of him.

Volkanovski was in action this past Saturday. “The Great” scored another win over Diego Lopes in their UFC 325 title rematch. Volkanovski retained his featherweight gold via unanimous decision to send the fans home happy in Sydney.

Silva was watching the event and he fired a warning shot at Volkanovski in a social media video. “Lord” Silva unveiled his plan to train with Ilia Topuria, who holds a knockout win over “The Great.”

In a chat with reporters during the UFC 325 post-fight press conference, Volkanovski said he’s heard rumblings that after training with Mauricio Ruffy of The Fighting Nerds, Silva has taken issue with his teammate.

“I don’t know, I think he’s a bit upset about the Ruffy thing,” Volkanovski said. “I don’t think it was anything more than the fact that Ruffy is a part of Engage Industries at the moment. We connected sort of through that, did a bit of training there and he’s obviously a very good guy. Incredible guy, one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. I was always going to work with him.”

Volkanovski believes that if the rumor is correct, then Silva is taking things the wrong way.

“I think Jean Silva took that to heart, supposedly,” Volkanovski said. “I don’t know if it’s real that he doesn’t follow Ruffy anymore. It shouldn’t be like that. It’s nothing like that. I don’t know why he’s getting so butthurt about that.”

Silva currently holds the No. 6 spot on the official UFC featherweight rankings. He’s fresh off a unanimous decision win over Arnold Allen, which was a much-needed victory after “Lord” Silva was stopped by Lopes in the bout prior.
