Former UFC superstar Dustin Poirier threatened to fight security and local police in newly-released arrest footage.

Less than a year removed from his ceremonious retirement at UFC 318, Dustin Poirier is in trouble with the law after he was arrested for ‘public intoxication’ on Sunday in Atlanta.

Poirier, who retired following a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318 last summer, has no prior criminal history. Poirier was released on bail after appearing in an Atlanta courtroom on Monday morning, and faces a misdemeanor ‘public intoxication’ charge.

After Poirier’s surprising arrest, many fans, pundits, and fellow fighters expressed serious concern for how the former UFC superstar is handling retirement. The former interim UFC lightweight champion took to social media earlier this week to express ‘love’ for his supporters, promising to ‘work on himself’ after his arrest.

For the first time since the stunning news, footage acquired by TMZ shows an extremely inebriated Poirier’s arrest after he was apparently kicked off a flight by attendants.

The Atlanta Police Department released footage of Poirier’s arrest outside of an airline gate, which shows the former UFC superstar threatening and berating several attendants before he was taken into police custody.

Poirier is regarded as one of the greatest lightweights in UFC history, despite never winning an undisputed title. Before losing to Holloway last summer, Poirier earned recent wins over the likes of Benoit Saint-Denis, Conor McGregor, and Michael Chandler inside the Octagon.

Since retiring, Poirier has repeatedly teased returning to fighting for either a boxing match or an MMA bout. After his former rival Justin Gaethje won the undisputed lightweight title at UFC Freedom 250, Poirier expressed interest in a trilogy between the two fan favorites.

As of this writing, UFC CEO Dana White and the promotional brass haven’t commented on Poirier’s arrest. If convicted, Poirier faces a one-year prison sentence and/or a fine.
