Nate Diaz, Artemij Sitenkov, and Joseph Duffy all have one thing in common: A win over UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Duffy beat McGregor back in 2010 when the two fought in Cage Warriors where Duffy was able to submit “The Notorious” in just 38 seconds by arm triangle choke. Duffy recently renewed a contract with the UFC but also had a stint in professional boxing where he went 7-0 as a pro in 2013. Floyd Mayweather made headlines on Tuesday when he posted a challenge to Conor McGregor on social media offering to fight with 8-ounce gloves instead of the 10-ounce gloves that are in their contracted rules. “Don’t believe what you hear in the media. Don’t believe what you hear on blog sites. If it’s not coming directly from me, then it’s not true,” Mayweather said in his post. “I’m telling McGregor, “Let’s fight in 8 oz gloves”. McGregor can fight in any brand he prefers or chooses. I’ll be wearing 8 oz Grant gloves. Whatever advantage McGregor needs to feel more comfortable in the ring, I’m willing to accommodate. Let’s give the boxing and MMA fans what they want to see.”

McGregor also enlisted the aid of boxing referee Joe Cortez, who was put in charge of overseeing his sparring sessions with Malignaggi. Speaking to SiriusXM Boxing, Cortez recently shed some light on Malignaggi’s sparring sessions with McGregor. Apparently, McGregor actually held his own, and the two fighters got quite heated.
