Paddy Pimblett has glaring advantage over Benoit Saint Denis, says respected coach: “A little too suspect”

Paddy Pimblett is looking for a bounce back win on Saturday, and head coach Din Thomas believes he will get it.
Pimblett is set to trade leather with Benoit Saint Denis in the UFC 329 co-main event in Las Vegas. It’s a chance for “The Baddy” to return to the win column after failing to capture the interim UFC Lightweight Championship against Justin Gaethje back in January. He’ll need to halt the momentum of Denis, who is riding a four-fight winning streak.
Going into Saturday’s lightweight battle, the odds are close. Appearing on “One on One,” Thomas predicted that Denis’ durability will be his downfall (via Bloody Elbow).
“That’s going to be his biggest problem against Paddy… Paddy absorbs punches better,” Thomas said.
“I think Benoit Saint Denis’ defense is a little too suspect and I think Paddy’s going to hit him more often,” he added. “Paddy’s going to get hit a lot too but the difference is, when Paddy gets hit, Paddy has that Charles Oliveira ‘it factor’ in terms of you can get hit and then you just fall to your back and recover and Paddy can do that.”
Saint Denis has beaten Dan Hooker, Beneil Dariush, Mauricio Ruffy, and Kyle Prepolec in his current winning streak. It’s been a big turnaround for the “God of War,” as many questioned his future following a second-round TKO to Renato Moicano back in Sept. 2024.
Pimblett amassed a nine-fight winning streak prior to the aforementioned to defeat against Gaethje. “The Baddy” is hoping to score an impressive finish and move on to a big fight. Whether or not that would be a grudge match with Ilia Topuria remains to be seen, but Pimblett’s full attention will need to be on Saint Denis in Las Vegas.
