While UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping wasn’t fighting at UFC 205, the middleweight champ was on hand for the event doing his Fox Sports 1 analyst duties.
When the champ stepped out of the broadcasting booth to use the bathroom, he was met with a swarm of enthusiastic fans who proceeded to pull out camera phones and take videos of themselves with ‘The Count’ while he was using the urinal in the mens bathroom.
While many would have been annoyed or frustrated by the lack of privacy, the champ was all smiles as he finished using the bathroom before making his way through the crowd of people who continued to chant ‘Michael Bisping!’ as he laughed and pushed his way through the massive swarm of fans who had gathered.
Bisping was certainly paying close attention to the UFC 205 main card fight between former middleweight champion Chris Weidman, and top ranked middleweight Yoel Romero. Weidman was making his highly anticipated return to the Octagon following his UFC 194 loss to Luke Rockhold a year ago which saw him lose the middleweight championship. Romero on the other hand was returning to the Octagon for the first time since his brief suspension for a failed drug test.
The fight between Weidman and Romero was even at one round each going into the third, where Romero landed a perfectly placed flying knee to knock Weidman out cold and open a massive gash on the side of the former champ’s head. Following the fight, Romero used his post-fight Octagon interview to call out Bisping, who laughed and gave Romero the finger from the Fox Sports 1 broadcasting booth.
While there has been no date given for a potential Bisping vs. Romero fight, UFC President Dana White confirmed following the fight that Romero would be getting the next title shot at middleweight. This is likely in part due to Luke Rockhold withdrawing from his November fight with Jacare Souza, in a fight which also could very well have seen one man crowned the middleweight #1 contender.
