Friday morning, unfortunate news surfaced that UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes was involved in a car accident that saw the car he was in get struck by a train. Following the accident, Hughes was reportedly airlifted to a hospital, where UFC President Dana White stated that he was being treated for head trauma.
While details on the situation remain scarce, a woman who lives in Hughes’ town divulged some info on the accident via social media, saying:
“He was driving his truck and a crossing South somewhere of Raymond did not have crossing arms and stuff and he was hit on the passenger side and airlifted to Springfield.”
At the time of the initial report Friday morning, Dana White stated that Hughes family was traveling to be with him at the hospital.
So far no further details on Hughes situation have emerged.
