Urijah Faber is holding no punches back as he is set to challenge UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199. The two will meet for the third time in their careers, with Faber winning their first meeting in the WEC and Cruz taking their second match in the UFC. With their long history, Faber says that he has noticed physical change in Cruz’s body and alludes that the new strict testing done by USADA will be a great advantage for himself.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw was not very pleased when he caught wind that the UFC had booked a trilogy bout between Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz instead of granting him an immediate rematch with “The Dominator”. The former Team Alpha Male fighter, Dillashaw, says despite his recent rivalry with Urijah he will still be rooting for the “California Kid” against newly crowned champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199.

Urijah Faber is currently gearing up for his UFC 199 trilogy fight with bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz on June 4th, however the MMA veteran is currently in Maui enjoying the beach. Coincidentally, Faber ran into UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on the beach as well. Faber pointed out that dos Anjos was “hobbling” on one foot due to the broken foot which forced him out of his UFC 196 main event scrap with Conor McGregor.

When news broke that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had suffered an injury and was forced to pull out of his UFC 196 main event fight with Conor McGregor, many fighters decided to throw their name in the hat for the short-notice fight. Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber was one of those fighters. Unfortunately for the “California Kid”, former UFC lightweight challenger Nate Diaz ended up being the fighter selected to ‘fill the void’ for March’s UFC pay-per-view event.

Urijah Faber is the latest victim of title belt theft. After Jackson-Winkeljohn head coach Mike Winkeljohn had a title belt stolen from the Jackson-Wink MMA gym in New Mexico, now Urijah Faber has had a title belt stolen from a gym in California.

Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber sent a loud a clear message to the UFC and UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz on Thursday. Cruz who is coming off a win to regain the UFC bantamweight title over T.J. Dillashaw has said that he likes the rubber match with Faber and will “gift” him the fight.

Dominick Cruz reclaimed the UFC bantamweight championship last month after defeating TJ Dillashaw via split decision at ‘UFC Fight Night: Boston’. Immediately after winning the title, Cruz found himself being called out by his nemesis Urijah Faber. While TJ Dillashaw wanted an immediate rematch given how close the fight was, Cruz seems to prefer a trilogy bout with Faber instead.

Is Urijah Faber’s career coming to an end soon? Faber’s Team Alpha Male teammate Cody Garbrandt seems to think that it might be the case, with “The California Kid” taking a bow at the top of the game. Garbrandt spoke on the Submission Radio show about his mentor’s future in fighting (transcribed by Bloody Elbow): “If Urijah would be the champion I think he would beat Cruz in the next fight. We talked about it before, he’ll go out as champion, retire,” Garbradt said. “Urijah has done so much for the sport and been a world champion, he’s been the Featherweight king at the WEC – and people seem to forget Urijah ruled that era for a very long time, fought some of the best fighters. What else would he have to prove? You win the title and go out, storybook ending. Boom, done.”
