Now, Van will defend the strap against Tatsuro Taira at UFC 327.

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s ongoing skid continued in the Octagon at UFC Seattle last Saturday. Joe Pyfer,  who recently entered the middleweight Top 15, defeated Adesanya by second-round TKO in a shocking main event finish.

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison days fighting at 135 lbs could be numbered as she recovers from neck surgery. Kayla Harrison was supposed to square off with former UFC two-division champion Amanda Nunes in the UFC 324 co-main event, but Harrison was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury. After undergoing extensive surgery, Harrison is targeting a return to the Octagon sometime this summer, likely against the returning Nunes.

Former UFC superstar Nate Diaz used part of a rare podcast appearance to slam several of the biggest names in Mixed Martial Arts. Nate Diaz is weeks away from his highly anticipated return to Mixed Martial Arts as he prepares to face fellow UFC alum Mike Perry on the upcoming Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card. Diaz, who parted ways with the UFC after a win at UFC 279, hasn’t fought in any respect since defeating former BMF foe Jorge Masvidal in a 2024 boxing match.

While fans expected a competitive war, Oliveira ultimately turned in a one-sided grappling lesson on his way to a unanimous decision victory.

However, it’s not often we see him dwarfed by a training partner like he was during a recent meet-up with Khamzat Chimaev. Johnson, who will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this summer, lined up with reigning middleweight champ Chimaev at Santo Studios in California. As expected, they hit the mats for some training together. The size difference between them was quite stark—then again, it’s not often you see a natural flyweight and a very big middleweight side by side.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen anything like that in the Octagon, but we got close at Saturday’s UFC Seattle card. UFC Seattle featured a number of memorable finishes. One of them occurred on the undercard, when flyweight contender Casey O’Neill scored a first-round TKO over Gabriella Fernandes. But just weeks before his second-career UFC main event booking, Pyfer nearly didn’t make it to the Octagon, and came close to ending his own life, as he admitted in his UFC Seattle post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.

Despite an encouraging start against Pyfer, Adesanya faltered in Round 2, as Pyfer landed several damaging blows on the feet and ground.
