Dana White blown away by Alexa Grasso’s UFC Seattle win: “One of the greatest finishes”

Dana White was in awe of Alexa Grasso’s victory over Maycee Barber this past Saturday.
Grasso and Barber collided in a flyweight clash in the UFC Seattle co-main event. The former 125-pound champion’s standup was on point and she dropped Barber with a hard punch and followed up by applying a rear-naked choke. Ultimately, Barber had already been knocked out with a punch prior to the choke, and the visual was something to behold.
Barber was unconscious for an extended period of time before she was able to sit up. During the UFC Seattle post-fight press conference, White admitted that it’s hard to top the type of finish Grasso earned (via MMAJunkie).
“I think it’s one of the greatest finishes in the sport’s history, let alone this year or tonight or whatever,” White said. “It was incredible.”
Grasso also spoke to reporters and she said that while her jiu-jitsu was a top priority during fight camp, she knew that her standup would pay dividends.
“I trained so well this fight camp. It was very, very tough. It was very hard. I wanted to get the finish. Of course my jiu-jitsu game was the first point I wanted. I wanted to finish her, but of course my boxing is always there and I’m super glad it worked.”
It was an important moment for Grasso, who entered her bout with Barber on a two-fight skid. After dropping unanimous decision losses to Valentina Shevchenko and Natália Silva, Grasso had her back against the wall. She was able to remind everyone that she once ruled the roost at flyweight.
With all the attention on Grasso coming out of UFC Seattle, it’ll be interesting to see who she is matched up against next.
