Alexander Gustafsson accepts UFC Stockholm bout with perennial contender Corey Anderson

The octagon will return to Sweden for UFC Stockholm on June 1 and it appears that Alexander Gustafsson will once again headline the card. The entire event is expected to stream on ESPN+, but no broadcast plans have been finalized as of this time.

With our questions now answered in regards to the next pay-per-view UFC event that is UFC 236 on April 13, it’s onto figuring out what will steal the spotlight at UFC 238. Some signs of clarity have begun to show. ESPN is reporting that the third UFC flyweight title bout in the promotion’s history is currently being finalized for the event on June 9 in Chicago, Illinois. That bout would feature the current champion, Valentina Shevchenko (16-3) as she would look to make her first title defense against the resurgent Jessica Eye (14-6).

The 135-pound bantamweight division is about as deep as it gets across the board in MMA. In the UFC specifically, new and exciting talents are seemingly emerging with every event. However, the weight class is, unfortunately, starting to find itself a bit clogged at the top. At UFC Brooklyn in January, the division’s champion, TJ Dillashaw, went down in weight to try and capture the flyweight title against the recently crowned Henry Cejudo. The defending champion would end up doing just that as he only needed 32 seconds to dispatch of the higher weight class’ titleholder.

There were many spectacular performances from top to bottom as we kicked things off with a fun back and forth strawweight battle between Hannah Cifers and Poliana Viana before getting devastating knockouts via Macy Chiasson and Edmen Shahbazyan. UFC 235 took place this past Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada. As stacked of a card as it was it actually ended up staying completely intact as well… For the most part, anyway. When it comes to complete fight removals, during fight week the card lost out on a bantamweight clash between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Frankie Saenz after Vera pulled out with an illness. Saenz was a late replacement for Thomas Almeida.
Paige VanZant to appear in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2019

After a successful return to the Octagon in January 2019, Paige VanZant is now going to continue expanding her brand outside of the world of MMA as it was recently announced that she will be appearing in the 2019 issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. In January at UFC Brooklyn, VanZant returned to take on the Invicta FC veteran and season 26 of The Ultimate Fighter contestant, Rachael Ostovich. VanZant would end up scoring the second-round armbar submission victory after a rather one-sided opening round in favor of her opponent.
