Well, as of Monday that has indeed been confirmed as the case. The UFC made the bout official as the Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko (17-3) looks to make her first successful title defense against the ever resurgent Jessica “Evil” Eye (14-6) who is unbeaten at 125-pounds.

On Saturday night (Saturday afternoon in North America), the UFC will return to our screens with the exciting UFC London card, which airs on ESPN+ (get a free trial here). This UFC London card will be headlined by a crucial welterweight contender bout between former title challenger Darren Till and ferocious veteran Jorge Masvidal. The bout will mark Till’s opportunity to rebound from a failed championship bid opposite Tyron Woodley, and Masvidal’s chance to get back on track after a decision loss to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson — all the way back in November of 2017.

Last Saturday night, in the main event of the exciting UFC Wichita card, former UFC heavyweight title challenger Derrick Lewis returned to the cage for a high-stakes collision with Junior dos Santos. Regrettably for Lewis and his ever-growing fanbase, this bout did not go the way he planned. Though he was able to land one of his patented nukes on dos Santos in round one, the Brazilian survived and ultimately sealed the deal with a strafing of his own in the second round.

Former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping and long-time UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal have had beef for years. The two fighters have had heated run-ins at a number of past UFC shows, and have not hesitated to swap trash talk in interviews and on social media. This weekend, Bisping and Masvidal will both be in London for the anticipated UFC London card. Bisping will be working as an analyst for the event, while Masvidal will fight Darren Till in the headlining bout.

According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, fan favorite lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone recently discussed a potential rematch — but not at lightweight. Okamoto says Cowboy and Diaz chatted about a rematch backstage at UFC 235. Diaz suggested he was up for it, but so long as there was no weight cut involved. That apparently means the fight would have to occur in the 185-pound middleweight division — a weight class neither man has competed in before.

Last night, in the main event of UFC Wichita, the former UFC heavyweight champion showed both sides of his personality, first melting Derrick Lewis with a salvo of second round strikes, then melting hearts by singing Happy Birthday to his two-year-old son Bento.

Over the last few months, the fight world has been abuzz about a potential showdown between lightweight stars Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Conor McGregor. Both fighters seemed to like the matchup, UFC President Dana White was apparently on board, and of course, every fight fan with a pulse was eager to see it happen. Unfortunately, it now sounds as though the fight has hit a snag.

The UFC has dropped the official posters for two of its upcoming cards: UFC 236 and UFC Philadelphia. UFC Philadelphia goes down on March 30. The card will be headlined by a lightweight bloodletting between Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje. Other highlights of the bill include a strawweight fight between Michelle Waterson and Karolina Kowalkiewicz, and a lightweight scrap between Ross Pearson and Desmond Green.

Ultimately, Junior dos Santos beat Derrick Lewis by TKO in the second round to become a top contender in the heavyweight division. Although Daniel Cormier has been eyeing a fight with Brock Lesnar, the question is, did dos Santos do enough to get the next shot?

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos continued his comeback tour at UFC Wichita on Saturday night, when he clobbered recent title challenger Derrick Lewis to a second-round TKO. With this victory, dos Santos is now on an impressive three-fight streak. He’s likely now only a win or two away from another shot at heavyweight gold, and could probably earn himself a shot with a big win over the right opponent.
