Israel Adesanya scoffs at retirement idea following UFC Seattle loss to Joe Pyfer

Israel Adesanya has shunned the thought of retiring following UFC Seattle.

Adesanya clashed with Joe Pyfer this past Saturday inside the Climate Pledge Arena. “The Last Stylebender” had success using his range early on. When Adesanya got into a firefight with his opponent, that’s when he paid the price.

Pyfer got the better of Adesanya in those exchanges before taking him down and finishing the former UFC Middleweight Champion with ground and pound. It was the fourth straight loss for Adesanya, but don’t expect him to hang up his gloves just yet.

During his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Adesanya made it clear that he will continue fighting (h/t MMAFighting).

“You keep going again and again and again and again and again,” Adesanya shouted. “I’m not f*cking leaving. You’ll never stop me. I might get beaten but I’ll always remain undefeated.”

Adesanya wasn’t surprised that Pyfer found success against him in the standup and he has nothing but praise for the rising 185-pounder.

“I expected the best Joe Pyfer,” Adesanya said. “I knew this was his biggest fight ever so he’s going to bring his best and he did. There was nothing surprising. I expected the best, and he brought the best.

“I said before this fight, it’s been 13 months, I wanted to feel like I’ve been in a fight, and he gave me just that. Like I said to him at the weigh-ins, they gave me a shot, now it’s my turn to give him a shot and he earned it and he did so great. So congrats to Joe Pyfer for this.”

Adesanya hasn’t scored a victory since April 2023. That was when he knocked out Alex Pereira to recapture the UFC middleweight title. Since then, he has lost to Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis, Nassourdine Imavov, and Pyfer.
