Health update on Maycee Barber after scary KO loss to Alexa Grasso at UFC Seattle

Maycee Barber’s team has provided an update on their fighter after a brutal night in Seattle.
Barber shared the Octagon with former UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso this past Saturday inside the Climate Pledge Arena. In the opening frame, Grasso dropped Barber and instantly transitioned to a choke before the fight was stopped. As it turned out, Barber had been knocked out before the choke was even applied.
It was a quick and vicious sequence that got scary when Barber was motionless inside the Octagon for a while. Ultimately, Barber regained consciousness and was able to sit up and leave the cage.
Members of Barber’s camp have taken to social media to provide positive updates on “The Future.” Barber shared those updates on her Instagram Stories.
“Part of the game. Congrats to Alexa. We got caught but are okay and will be back soon. Thanks for everyone checking in.”
Another update took a positive approach to the setback.
“Not our night…. This is the fight game, and sometimes things don’t go our way. No blame, no excuses…. just lessons. We learn, we grow, and we come back stronger. God is good all the time.”
The loss to Grasso has now snapped Barber’s seven-fight winning streak. She hadn’t suffered a defeat since Feb. 2021, and it was actually against Grasso, who took a unanimous decision in their first encounter.
Where Barber goes from here remains to be see. She still has youth on her side, as she will turn 28 in May. Whether or not she will be able to make the proper adjustments to reach top contender status at 125 pounds remains to be seen.
