Daniel Cormier thinks Aaron Pico is a ‘real problem’ for Alexander Volkanovski and other featherweights

Daniel Cormier thinks the version of Aaron Pico that showed up at UFC 327 is a serious threat to the UFC Featherweight Champion.
Pico collided with fellow Bellator alum Patricio “Pitbull” Freire on the featured preliminary bout of this past Saturday’s card in Miami. Pico scored a unanimous decision victory to get back in the win column.
Cormier was on color commentary duties throughout the UFC 327 card. In a post-event reaction video uploaded on his YouTube channel, Cormier shared his belief that a sharp Pico could give Alexander Volkanovski some issues. He believes the same would be true for other elite 145-pounders.
“Aaron Pico looked as good as he’s ever looked in his entire life,” Cormier said. “He was fast, he was quick as we all know he is. He used wrestling, and he was patient. I think that was probably the most impressive thing. Guys, I will tell you this. If the Aaron Pico that showed up tonight fights that way all the time, he’s a problem for Movsar [Evloev]. He’s a problem for Volkanovski, Diego Lopes, and everybody else. His skillset is so complete. If he can fight right, he’s a real problem for everyone.”
Pico entered UFC 327 coming off a brutal knockout loss to Lerone Murphy back in Aug. 2025. The former Bellator star decided to take some time off before returning to the Octagon. That decision paid off, as Pico has now picked up his first win under the UFC banner.
Throughout the years, there have been high expectations for Pico, but he’s suffered his share of setbacks. Whether or not he can put it all together to eventually become a world champion will be a story to watch for the 29-year-old.
Do you think Aaron Pico can stay the course enough to become an elite featherweight, or will he suffer more setbacks? Chime in with your opinion in the comments below.
