Ronda Rousey slams ‘slimeball’ Vince McMahon in recent memoir: “Blurred line between character and reality”

By Josh Evanoff - March 20, 2024

Ronda Rousey has nothing kind to say about her former boss, former WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

‘Rowdy’ was famously one of the biggest stars in UFC history, fighting for the company between 2013 and 2016. However, after a knockout loss to Amanda Nunes, Ronda Rousey opted to step away from MMA. While she never formally retired from fighting, she’s acknowledged a return to the cage is as likely as a return to Judo.

After her career in the cage, Ronda Rousey headed to the WWE. A lifelong fan of professional wrestling, the former fighter quickly became one of the company’s biggest stars. From 2017 to 2023, Rousey was a member of the WWE roster, save for a period of inactivity due to the birth of her daughter.

Ronda Rousey famously left the company in late 2023, leading many to believe she would return to MMA. Some speculated that she would return at UFC 300, but those plans never came to fruition. As it turns out, her exit from professional wrestling likely had more to do with getting away, than pursuing something else.

The former UFC champion recently released a memoir titled ‘Our Fight’. There, Ronda Rousey discussed her WWE stint and took heavy aim at former chairman Vince McMahon. The longtime face of the brand, he was forced to step down due to accusations of sexual assault, and sex trafficking earlier this year.

“NXT was founded by and under the control of Triple H, real name Paul Levesque.” A section of Ronda Rousey’s memoir read.” In addition into being my in-ring WrestleMania nemesis, he is arguably one of the best professional wrestlers in history and one of the better people on the business side. He is married to Stephanie McMahon, who is the daughter of WWE’s Emperor Palpatine, Vince McMahon. Vince took over the company from his father in the early 1980s and spent the better part of forty years playing a real-world pro-wrestling version of Monopoly, buying up and absorbing smaller promotions until he basically owned them all.” (h/t Covalent TV)

He continued, “It’s hard sometimes to know where the evil, unethical, slimeball character of Vince McMahon played out for the camera ends and the actual questionably ethical, many times sued, and multiple times accused of sexual misconduct Vince McMahon begins. That blurred line between character and reality is a recurring theme within the WWE Universe.”

“[Pay-per-views are] held in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, as well as twice a year now in Saudi Arabia. A nation that restricts the rights of women in a way that I’m certain Vince McMahon wishes he could.”

Following her WWE exit last year, Ronda Rousey later appeared at several indie events and a Ring of Honor show. However, she remains unsigned as of now.
