Gaethje put on a throwback performance against Pimblett to earn the interim belt and a likely clash with lineal lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.

On Saturday night, however, he silenced a lot of those doubters.

Unfortunately for him, he ran into a motivated Justin Gaethje who picked up the win via unanimous decision. It was quite the beating that ‘The Baddy’, to the point where he was sent to hospital in the aftermath of the contest.

Gaethje battered Pimblett on his way to a unanimous decision victory, capturing the interim UFC Lightweight Championship in the process.
