Lerone Murphy isn’t 100% convinced that Movsar Evloev fight will decide next title challenger

Lerone Murphy isn’t 100% sure that his upcoming clash with Movsar Evloev will determine a new number one contender.
In the main event of this year’s UFC London event, Lerone Murphy will go head to head with Movsar Evloev. While both men have a great case for receiving a world title shot in their own right, only one of them will be able to really call themselves the number one contender after they collide in the English capital.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as we saw when Diego Lopes received another crack at Alexander Volkanovski instead of Murphy or Evloev. You could certainly argue that Lerone should automatically get an opportunity, as his case is a bit stronger given his activity (plus picking up a viral knockout), but this is the direction they’ve gone.
During a recent interview, Murphy spoke about whether or not he truly believes he’ll receive a title shot with a win.
Murphy talks about Evloev fight
“Seeing the way the division mapped out, it was obvious that they were gonna go with that fight.
“At this point, words are wind, innit?” Murphy said when he was asked whether he is guaranteed a title shot with a win.
“It’s like, the division’s forever changing and it’s a performance based company, someone’s gotta go out there and put on a good fight, nothing’s concrete, that’s what I’m trying to say. But I hope so.”
