Daniel Cormier says Alexander Volkanovski is undoubtedly the ‘greatest featherweight of all time’

Daniel Cormier feels his pick for the greatest MMA featherweight of all time is a no brainer.
Alexander Volkanovski further added to his legacy with another unanimous decision victory over Diego Lopes this past Saturday to close out UFC 325. It was the first successful title defense in Volkanovski’s second reign with the 145-pound gold. “The Great” had five successful title defense in his first run with the gold.
In the aftermath of UFC 325, Cormier took to his YouTube channel to share his thoughts on what transpired. In the video, Cormier said that Volkanovski stands alone at the top of featherweight royalty (h/t MMAJunkie).
“Nobody wants to fight Movsar (Evloev). Nobody wants to fight Lerone (Murphy). Volk is like, well, if they’re next, that’s who I’m fighting,” Cormier said. “He’s not trying to pick fights. He’s not trying to get the easiest path. He just wants to fight those guys. I’m telling you, he’s the greatest featherweight of all time.
“I know we love Jose Aldo. I know we love Max Holloway. But (Volkanovski) just won his eighth UFC featherweight title fight. Four of those victories are against Holloway and Aldo, the two other guys considered the greatest featherweights of all time. It was Volkanovski’s night. He’s the best in the world, and he’s as good as they come. The guy is tremendous, and I really don’t see him slowing down anytime soon.”
UFC has announced the main event for its London card, which is scheduled for March 28. It’ll be top featherweight contenders Movsar Evloev and Lerone Murphy sharing the Octagon. It’s a bout that most agree should be a title eliminator, and Volkanovski has said the winner of the fight is deserving of a championship opportunity.
