The Reebok sponsorship deal was made after former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s last fight in the Octagon, which took place back in 2013. With rumors of his return to the Octagon, “Rush” spoke with RDS and said that he has been in talks with the UFC, but the two parties are going back and forth with contract negotiations (translated by Bloody Elbow).

Holly Holm, like many, was shocked to find out that the UFC had opted to not book a rematch between herself and Miesha Tate for UFC 200 after their close fight in the co-main event of UFC 196. Holm’s camp accused Tate of declining a rematch with Holm in order to take an easier fight by agreeing to fight Amanda Nunes. Tate’s camp responded by revealing that a rematch with Holm was never on the table.

McGregor on the other hand is preparing for his UFC 200 welterweight rematch with Nate Diaz on July 9th.

Every few weeks UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones engage in a heated Twitter feud. While the pair were initially slated to fight for the UFC light heavyweight championship on April 23rd in the main event of UFC 197, a leg injury forced Cormier out of the bout. The UFC ultimately selected Ovince Saint Preux as a late fill-in opponent for Jones, and made the bout an interim light heavyweight title fight.

McGregor was ringside when Carvalho was TKO’d by McGregor’s teammate, which led the UFC featherweight champ to post this lengthy and extremely heartfelt message regarding the death of Carvalho on his official Facebook page.

Terrible news surfaced early Tuesday morning when the community was made aware of the death of 28-year-old Portuguese MMA fighter Joao Carvalho. Carvalho fought Straight Blast Gym fighter Charlie Ward at the TEF 1 event, which took place at the National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday night. Shortly after the fight that ended with Ward winning by TKO in the third round, Carvalho was hospitalized.

In the wake of Carvalho’s death, veteran referee Marc Goddard released a heartfelt statement through his Facebook page regarding the incident, as well as the general safety of MMA fighters.

In the 5th round it appeared as though Holm was en route to her first successful title defense, however Tate managed to ultimately secure a rear naked choke win to claim the UFC women’s bantamweight championship.
