Matt Brown sounds off on Lyoto Machida's banned substance usage

Earlier this week news surfaced that former UFC champion Lyoto Machida had been pulled from his upcoming UFC on FOX 19 scrap against Dan Henderson after admitting to using a banned substance during an out-of-competition drug test. While Dan Henderson was extremely pissed about the situation, Machida claimed that he was unaware that the substance contained a banned substance. The way top ranked welterweight Matt Brown sees it however, that’s not an excuse.

Undefeated lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov is looking to get a title shot with a win over short-notice opponent Darrell Horcher who makes his UFC debut against Nurmagomedov this Saturday at UFC on FOX 19. Despite Horcher being a newcomer to the UFC, Nurmagomedov says that he wants a title shot if he wins because he didn’t choose the opponent.

On Thursday afternoon New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill officially legalizing MMA in New York. This led to the UFC promptly announcing that their inaugural event in New York would go down on November 12th. UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta revealed that UFC 205 would be the inaugural event at the Madison Square Garden, and that there is a possibility of Ronda Rousey returning to the Octagon for the event.

News broke that Machida declared the usage of a banned substance during an out-of-competition sample collection last week and would not be allowed to fight on Saturday.
Dominick Cruz blasts bantamweight division

Back in January, Dominick Cruz returned to the Octagon and defeated TJ Dillashaw to reclaim the UFC bantamweight championship. Immediately following his win over Dillashaw, Cruz found himself being called out by his nemesis, Urijah Faber. The UFC ultimately opted to book Cruz vs. Faber III for UFC 199 on June 4th in Inglewood California. Ahead of that fight things have been tense between Cruz and Faber during media appearances. It was only a matter of time before the UFC announced its first event in New York after MMA became legal in The Empire State. On Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo officially signed a bill legalizing MMA in New York, which subsequently lead the UFC to announce its inaugural event in New York at the Madison Square Garden.
