After retiring from MMA and being pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations on Tuesday, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor finally released a statement regarding the situation. McGregor explained that the issue between himself and the UFC was a result of him not wanting to take away from his training by doing another world tour. Ultimately, McGregor left the decision of whether or not he will fight in the UFC’s hands, offering to do media obligations, but not another world tour at the expense of his training.

Tuesday morning Conor McGregor started a whirlwind as he announced his retirement from MMA. While the MMA community speculated as to why McGregor was retiring, UFC President Dana White went on SportsCenter and announced that McGregor had been pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations. Thursday morning McGregor released a lengthy statement in which he revealed that he is not retired and will be ready to go for UFC 200, however he will not be doing a world tour for UFC 200, and will instead focus on his training. McGregor also pointed out that he got lost in the promoting aspect of fighting before his last fight. Whether or not McGregor fights now is up to the UFC.
