USADA drug testing stats a year after new testing policy

It’s now officially been a year since the UFC and the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency teamed up in an attempt to end PED usage in the UFC. USADA’s website, which is updated weekly with testing stats, reveals some interesting info.

Nate Diaz is never one to shy away from speaking his mind. The #5 ranked lightweight frequently speaks out against the UFC brass, and calls them out over the issue of fighter pay. Back in March, Diaz handed Conor McGregor the first loss of his professional career in the main event of UFC 196 when he submitted the featherweight champ. Now, ahead of their rematch at UFC 202 on August 20th, Diaz believes that another win over McGregor would mean a big shake-up in the UFC’s business plans.

MMA veteran Enson Inoue has fought some of the greatest fighters in MMA history, including Randy Couture, Big Nog, and Igor Vovchanchyn to name just a few. Of Inoue’s 12 professional wins, 9 of them have come by way of submission given his BJJ black belt. Upon returning to the mat this week, Inoue demoted himself down from black belt to purple belt.

Frank Mir has asked the UFC to be released

Back in April, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir was notified that he had failed his ‘UFC Fight Night: Australia’ post-fight drug test. Mir failed the test for oral turinabol metabolites, blaming the failed drug test on contaminated kangaroo meat. While there has been no word yet as to how long Mir will be suspended, he has been open about the fact that a 2-year suspension would force him to retire from the sport.

However, that hasn’t stopped McGregor from talking about competition whenever Floyd’s name comes up. McGregor recently told ESPN, “If I only had to focus on boxing, hell, I’d be neck and neck with Floyd right now. I’m in the game of spinning plates. I’m spinning a boxing plate. I’m spinning a taekwondo plate. I’m spinning a jiujitsu plate. I’m spinning a freestyle wrestling plate. I’m spinning a karate plate. There are so many spinning plates in this game. If I was to put all of them down and have one boxing plate spinning, it would be like a load off my shoulders.”

In the wake of the fight, many began criticizing McGregor for what they believed to be a weak Jiu-Jitsu game. Ahead of his UFC 202 rematch against Nate Diaz, McGregor brought in Jiu-Jitsu world champion Dillon Danis to help him train for the event.
