If He Beats CM Punk, Mickey Gall Says He'll Call Out Another Fighter
Tom Taylor - September 7, 2016
This Saturday, on the main card of UFC 203, WWE import CM Punk will take his first steps into the perilous world of MMA. He’ll do so opposite 24-year-old prospect Mickey Gall, who was awarded the opportunity on the basis of a CM Punk callout at a regional MMA show. Until Punk signed with the UFC, he had no real martial arts experience. Gall, meanwhile, has a long history in the martial arts, ranging from success on the grappling circuit, to a perfect amateur MMA record. Given this, the young fighter is expected to blow through the pro wrestler when the cage door closes on Saturday night.
Stephen Thompson reflects on Tyron Woodley shutting him down on FS1
bjpenndotcom - September 7, 2016
In the main event of UFC 201, Tyron Woodley left the world stunned as he knocked out Robbie Lawler in the first round of their main event scrap, winning Lawler’s welterweight championship in the process. On the post-fight show, presumptive #1 contender Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson made his case for a fight with Woodley, pointing out that he is on a 7-fight win streak that has seen him most recently defeat Rory MacDonald. Woodley was quick to shut Thompson down on live TV, brushing ‘Wonderboy’ off as he called for a fight with Georges St-Pierre or Nick Diaz instead.

bjpenndotcom - September 7, 2016
Outspoken woman’s bantamweight Bethe Correia may be fighting Jessica Eye at UFC 203 this weekend, but a fight with Cris Cyborg is on the former title challenger’s mind. The Strikeforce woman’s featherweight champion finally debuted in the Octagon at UFC 198, and has been the subject of many call-outs ever since, with Correia being the most recent:

bjpenndotcom - September 7, 2016

After Overeem, Stipe Miocic Wants to Avenge an Old Loss
Tom Taylor - September 7, 2016
This weekend, in the main event of UFC 203, Stipe Miocic will attempt to defend his UFC heavyweight title against decorated striker Alistair Overeem. Though Miocic is favored to win this fight, which will occur in his home town of Cleveland, Ohio, his victory is certainly not a foregone conclusion. Despite the scale of this looming challenge, the heavyweight king has already given some thought to possible future opponents. Though the next heavyweight title shot is likely to go to former champion Cain Velasquez, the new champion says he’s most interested in avenging the last blemish on his record: a decision loss to Junior Dos Santos. The two heavyweights engaged in a tooth-and-nail battle back in 2014.

Luke Rockhold on UFC Pay: 'The Money is BS'
Tom Taylor - September 7, 2016
Yesterday, we addressed rumors of a middleweight showdown between Yoel Romero and Chris Weidman, which is apparently on tap for the UFC’s November 12 trip to New York City. This prospective bout is very exciting, as it will mark the long-awaited returns of two of the middleweight division’s very best fighters. Yet the next move for Luke Rockhold, who is ranked even higher than Weidman and Romero, still remains unclear. We haven’t seen the American Kickboxing Academy staple in action since he surrendered his title to an underdog Michael Bisping.

Report | Conor McGregor Turned Down Movie Role to Fight at UFC 205
Tom Taylor - September 7, 2016
Last December, Irish superstar Conor McGregor won the UFC featherweight title by knocking out former champion Jose Aldo in just 13 seconds. Instead of defending that title, the Irishman’s next move was an immediate jump up to lightweight to challenge for former champion Rafael Dos Anjos’ crown. As we now know, of course, this is not the way things would unfold. Dos Anjos withdrew from this bout from an injury, only to be replaced by Stockton’s Nate Diaz, who defeated McGregor in a last-minute welterweight bout. A few months later, McGregor would even the score with Diaz, scoring a majority decision win in their UFC 202 welterweight rematch. And all the while, the featherweight division trundled on without it’s undisputed champion.
Junior dos Santos praises USADA
bjpenndotcom - September 7, 2016
Junior dos Santos believes that USADA is the best thing to happen to the heavyweight division. In a weight class where guys are testing for performance enhancing drugs left and right, the former heavyweight champion sounded off on the topic and praised the UFC’s new drug testing policy. “Thank you for USADA! They are doing a great job,” dos Santos said on Tuesday’s edition of the MMA Hour. “We want to know who is the real champion, not those fake performances that we were seeing (for some time).”
Cain Velasquez: If I’m 100% Going Into a Fight, There's Nobody That Can Touch Me
Tom Taylor - September 7, 2016
This weekend, in the main event of UFC 203, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will attempt to defend his title against decorated challenger Alistair Overeem. Given the perennial popularity of the heavyweight division, this championship bout has the MMA community pretty excited. There is perhaps nobody more excited for this bout, however, than former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. After all, he’s likely to fight the winner. Of course, this isn’t to suggest that Velasquez cares who wins UFC 203’s main event.
