A women’s bantamweight bout between former title challenger Claudia Gadelha and Cortney Casey took place during tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Claudia lands a big right hand to start. Gadelha ducks under a right hand of Casey and scores a huge double leg takedown. Casey lands a couple of nice up-kicks but Claudia jumps back in to her guard. Good shots from Caludia. Casey battles back to her feet but eats a combination. More good shots from Claudia. She is landing counters every time that Casey comes forward. Another big takedown from Claudia. Casey stands back up. Round one comes to an end.

A middleweight tilt between former title challenger Thales Leites and Krzysztof Jotko took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Jotko throws a kick to the body that lands. Leites shoots in and grabs a hold of Jotko. Krysztof lands some knees from the clinch position. Leites is focused on the takedown. He goes for a single leg. It is not there and Jotko breaks free. He lands a low kick. Thales charges forward and lands a left. Jotko returns fire with a low kick. Jotko comes in with a right but Thales ducks under and scores a takedown. Leites immediately moves to half guard. He tries to step over and move to mount but it is not there. He attempts the mount a second time and gets it. Jotko rolls and Leites grabs and arm. Jotko pulls it out and winds up in top position. One minute remains in round one. Jotko moves to half guard and lands an elbow. Jotko with some punches from the top to close out round one.

A welterweight scrap between Warlley Alves and Kamaru Usman took place on tonight’s UFC Fight Night 100 main card in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Round one begins and Usman presses forward and lands a nice left jab. Alves circles and lands a nice counter right hand. He follows that up with a leg kick. Alves with a jab and then he circles away. Usman presses forward and pins Alves up against the cage. Kamaru with a right hand. Alves eats it and circles out. Usman goes to the body with a jab. Alves continues to utilize movement but gets caught with a right. He takes the punch and then charges forward with a kick. Usman presses forward and lands a combination. Alves returns fire with a counter right that lands. Kamaru with a nice stiff jab. Warley responds with a counter left. Usman goes to the body with a jab. Alves returns fire with a leg kick. Usman presses him against the cage and throws a flurry. Alves circles out and lands a body kick. Warley with a nice jab. He lands a knee and then misses with a spinning high kick. That upsets Usman who charges forward with strikes. Round one comes to a close.

Kevin Ferguson Jr. made his Bellator debut against Aaron Hamilton at tonight’s Bellator 165 event in San Jose, California. ‘Baby Slice’ showed off some good striking and solid power in the early stages of the contest.

‘UFC Fight Night 99’ in Belfast, Northern Ireland, delivered some memorable fights and solid finishes. With that said, four “Performance of the night” awards were handed out at today’s post fight press conference.

Former Strikeforce champion Gegard Mousasi was able to score revenge on Uriah Hall earlier today at the UFC Fight Night 99 event in Belfast, Northern Ireland, earning a first-round TKO victory over “Primetime”. Mousasi and Hall exchanged shots on their feet for the opening couple of minutes of the main event contest, but Gegard eventually opted to take the scrap to the floor late in the round where he quickly earned a TKO finish with some nasty ground and pound.

Former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre’s ongoing dispute with the UFC has been an extremely long one with many unanticipated bumps in the road. While St-Pierre has maintained that he is ready to once again return to the Octagon, and end his 3-year hiatus, he and the UFC have been unable to reach a deal that would see ‘Rush’ return to action. Several months ago, all signs pointed to St-Pierre returning to the Octagon at UFC 206 in Toronto to fight Michael Bisping for the middleweight championship on December 10th. While both men agreed to the bout, one major hangup stood in the way, St-Pierre’s sponsorship with Under Armour.

A middleweight rematch between Gegard Mousasi and Uriah Hall served as the main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 99 fight card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Hall misses with a high kick to start. Mousasi lands a low kick and Hall returns fire with one of his own. Another leg kick from Hall. Mousasi presses forward and Hall misses with a wild spinning kick. Gegard with a nice jab. Hall lands a hard low kick that stops Mousasi in his tracks. Gegard responds with a good leg kick of his own. He lands a huge jab on Hall. Hall launches a spinning head kick and it partially lands. Uriah follows that up with a hard leg kick. Mousasi misses with an attempted combination. Another good leg kick scores for Hall. Gegard charges forward but misses with a right hand. Hall with another low kick and then ducks under and moves away from a Mousasi counter. Gegard misses with a jab and then eats a pair of low kicks. Hall goes upstairs with a high kick that misses. Gegard charges forward and shoots for a takedown. He presses Uriah against the cage and drags him to the floor. He begins working some short right hands and a few knees to the body. Big shots from Mousasi from the top and this one is over!

A lightweight bout between Ross Pearson and Steven Ray served as the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 99 fight card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Pearson immediately comes forward with pressure. Ray is circling trying to find his range. The fighters exchange low kicks. Ray lands a nice straight left. He circles away and catches Ross with a kick coming in. Pearson with a lot of forward pressure here but Ray is circling well and is landing some nice low kicks on his veteran opponent. Pearson returns fire with a nice low kick of his own. Ray with a beautiful body kick in return. He goes high with a follow up kick. Ross returns fire with a nice body kick. The fighters briefly clinch and Ray lands a knee. They break and Pearson lands a low kick. Steven presses forward and lands a kick to the body. He shoots in and picks Ross up, carries him across the cage and slams him down. Ross bounces back up to his feet and the fighters break. Round one comes to an end.

A heavyweight tilt between Timothy Johnson and Alexander Volkov took place on today’s UFC Fight Night 99 main card in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Round one begins and Volkov immediately presses forward and lands a right. Johnson circles away but Alexander quickly follows up and throws a knee to the body. Volkov presses forward with a combination that lands. He presses Timothy against the cage and begins working some big uppercuts inside. Johnson grabs a hold of an arm and looks for a kimura. The fighters break from the cage and Johnson lands a massive uppercut that drops Alexander. Timothy rushes in with some ground and pound a Volkov is in all sorts of trouble. Alexander is surviving here but eating some big shots from Johnson. Tim is working from full guard now. Volkov is able to wall-walk and get back to his feet. He presses Johnson against the fence and works some short shots. Round one comes to an end.

A middleweight tilt between Jack Marshman and Magnus Cedenblad served as the featured bout of today’s UFC Fight Night 99 prelims in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After being outpointed in round one by his opponent Magnus Cedenblad, Welsh striker Jack Marshman was able to rally an entertaining comeback in round two which resulted in a TKO finish.

Earlier this month, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor successfully made his UFC lightweight debut as he TKOd Eddie Alvarez in the second round of their UFC 205 main event scrap, entering himself into the UFC history books as the first man to simultaneously hold two UFC championships. Leading up to the fight however, McGregor was involved in several disputes with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who retained his welterweight strap in the co-main event as he fought Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson to a majority draw.

Saturday afternoon in Belfast, Ireland, #5 ranked UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi will step into the Octagon against #10 ranked Uriah Hall in a highly anticipated rematch that will see Mousasi given the chance to avenge his highlight reel KO loss to Hall which took place last year. Ahead of the fight, Mousasi has admitted that he knows he is taking a risk by accepting the fight given that he is not only ranked higher than Hall, but is also on a 3-fight winning streak, whereas Hall is on a 2-fight losing streak:

Earlier this month, in the main event of UFC 205, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor cemented his place in the UFC history books when he TKOd Eddie Alvarez in the second round to claim the UFC lightweight strap, becoming the first man to simultaneously hold two championship belts in two weight classes. Several weeks prior to the fight, McGregor appeared at the UFC 205 pre-fight press conference, where he was asked who he would like to fight next if he defeated Alvarez. McGregor of course stirred up quite a bit of controversy when he stated that he was considering making the jump to boxing for a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
