Former UFC champion Lyoto Machida’s case with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has been a very public one. Several months ago, USADA approached Machida for a random out-of-competion drug test. Machida disclosed that he had been taking a supplement called 7-Keto, which resulted in an anti-doping policy violation. Machida was handed an 18-month suspension, which didn’t sit too well with ‘The Dragon’ as he repeatedly blamed USADA for the infraction, claiming that he wasn’t properly informed on the fact that the supplement is on the banned substance list. Machida then went as far as to say that he believed USADA was ruining the UFC.

In mid October, it was announced that former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would be returning to action against reigning champion Amanda Nunes. The bout, which will mark Ronda Rousey’s first since she was knocked out by Holly Holm more than a year ago, will headline UFC 207 this December 30. As this fight draws ever closer, there has been widespread speculation as to the mental condition of Rousey. When she is focused and motivated, she is undeniably the best female fighter in the world. With that being said, Nurmagomedov’s star-power is increased tenfold in his native country of Russia, where he was reportedly recently offered $5 million to fight according to his manager Ali Abdel-Aziz.

The idea of Conor McGregor moving up to fight Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title is surely a possibility with the way “The Notorious” has been working. Despite McGregor having a 1-1 UFC record at 170, the most recent welterweight title challenger, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson feels that “The Notorious” isn’t physically big enough to compete with the UFC welterweights. McGregor has fought twice in the UFC at 170. However, both welterweight bouts were against Nate Diaz, who has spent most of his career in the UFC lightweight division.

In the co-main event of UFC 205 earlier this month, UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley, and top ranked welterweight contender Stephen Thompson squared off in a highly anticipated welterweight showdown. The fight was extremely back and forth, and ultimately resulted in Woodley retaining the welterweight championship after the fight was scored a majority draw. Following the fight, UFC President Dana White stated that the logical next step would be for the two men to have a rematch given the fact that the fight was scored a draw.

Tim Kennedy has been left without an opponent for the second UFC pay-per-view event in a row. Kennedy was scheduled to fight former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans at UFC 205 in New York earlier this month. However, Evans was unable to get a license to fight from the New York State Athletic Commission due to “irregular findings” from an MRI, according to Evans.
