Amanda Nunes pulled from UFC 213

Unfortunate news surfaced Saturday morning that UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes had been hospitalized ahead of her UFC 213 title defense against Valentina Shevchenko tonight. Shortly after, MMAJunkie’s John Morgan confirmed with UFC President Dana White that Nunes was indeed off the card. Interestingly enough, UFC women’s strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk attempted to convince White to allow her to step in for Nunes to fight Shevchenko, who she has competed against Shevchenko in the Muay Thai world.

In a surprising turn of events, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes has reportedly been hospitalized, and her UFC 213 main event scrap with Valentina Shevchenko is now in jeopardy according to multiple sources. Amanda Nunes has been feeling ill this week. She's currently in the hospital. Tonight's main event is in jeopardy. No official word yet.

Following the fight, Gaethje called out top ranked UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson to a scrap, explaining that he was looking for the quickest path to the interim lightweight title, and then a scrap with Conor McGregor for the undisputed title after McGregor has his ‘Fight of the Century’ boxing match with Floyd Mayweather on August 26th.
