CM Punk suggests he could potentially fight outside of the UFC
Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
Former pro wrestler CM Punk is now 0-2 as a mixed martial artist. Both of those losses occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where he was first submitted in the first round by Mickey Gall, then walloped to a decision by Mike Jackson. Since his loss to Jackson, which occurred at UFC 225 in June, Punk’s future has been nebulous. More recently, however, CM Punk has suggested that he still plans to continue training in MMA at the very least. And speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show this week, he suggested that he would consider fighting outside the UFC if the UFC is no longer interested in promoting his fights.
Kamaru Usman on Colby Covington: "I truly want to put my hands through his face"
Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
Kamaru Usman is one of the top welterweights in the world, situated amongst other stars like UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, recent title challenger Darren Till, and former interim champion Colby Covington. Interestingly, Usman says he has a lot of respect for both Woodley and Till — to the point that if he had to fight either man, it would be purely business, with no ill-will involved. If he had the chance to fight Covington, however, Usman says it would be far more than just business, as he’s developed some real animus toward his rival.
Evan Dunham "dealing with collections" after UFC fails to pay post-fight ambulance bill
Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
After his rousing draw with Beneil Dariush, which occurred at UFC 216 in October of 2017, Evan Dunham was sent to the hospital by ring-side physicians. Though Dunham absorbed considerable damage in this fight, he didn’t actually want to board an ambulance, as he’d had a very hard time getting the UFC to cover the ambulance bill after his 2013 scrap with Gleison Tibau. All the same, Evan Dunham heeded the advice of the UFC’s doctors, and boarded an ambulance to the hospital, keen to make sure he didn’t sustain any serious damage in his fight with Dariush. Two fights later, he’s now “dealing with collections” as the UFC has still failed to pay his ambulance bill for that fight.
Colby Covington expects his fight with Tyron Woodley to be bigger than Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor
Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
The next shot at dominant UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is expected to go to former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington. In addition to being a fantastic matchup from a stylistic standpoint, this is a fight that is rife with drama, as Covington has hit Woodley with a near ceaseless stream of trash talk over the last year, and Woodley has not been afraid to fire back.

Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
Last Saturday night, in the main event of the action-packed UFC 228 card in Dallas, Texas, UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley defended his title with a second-round submission of formerly undefeated British striking specialist Darren Till. While most fans and pundits were very impressed by Woodley’s big stoppage win, not everybody was. Nick Diaz, for example, seems to think it was a bit of a squash match. Speaking on his Instagram story, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion and UFC welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz shared his thoughts on the fight. See what he had to say below.

Speaking on The Luke Thomas Show on Monday, Colby Covington trashed Till for his failed title shot. He also went after Till for some pre-fight comments he made, in which he discussed his singular focus ahead of his fight with Woodley, suggesting that it was more important to him than even his family.

Jessica Andrade says she offered to fight Valentina Shevchenko for flyweight title at UFC 228
Tom Taylor - September 10, 2018
When Nicco Montano was hospitalized ahead of her planned UFC 228 title fight with Valentina Shevchenko, the UFC began a frantic and ultimately unsuccessful search for a replacement opponent. While the promotion ultimately decided to pull Shevchenko from the card, strawweight contender Jessica Andrade says she offered to abandon her planned strawweight fight with Karolina Kowalkiewicz and battle Shevchenko for the vacant flyweight title on short notice. “I even offered to fight for the belt if they agreed to, but since they had already weighed me and done all the work, I wasn’t allowed by the athletic commission,” Andrade said at the UFC 228 post-fight press conference (transcript via Sherdog). “But I’m happy I was able to help the promotion, help the UFC with a great show and excite people.”

Tyron Woodley doesn't feel he needs to beat GSP to become greatest welterweight ever
Tom Taylor - September 10, 2018
Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre is pretty much the consensus best welterweight ever. Yet current champion Tyron Woodley is most definitely closing in on that lofty title himself. In the eyes of many fans, however, it will be difficult for Tyron Woodley to cement himself as the welterweight GOAT without first defeating Georges St-Pierre. St-Pierre is, after all, still teasing a comeback.
