UFC London Results: Marc Diakiese defeats Joseph Duffy (Highlights)

An exciting lightweight bout between Marc Diakiese and Joseph Duffy took place on the prelims of today’s UFC London event. Round one begins and Diakiese leaps in with an overhand right and then a low kick. Duffy returns fire with a body kick. Diakiese shrugs it off and throws a high kick. Duffy circles and the lunges in with a right hand. Diakiese replies with a front kick. Duffy ducks under a punch and scores a double leg takedown. Marc scrambles to get his back up against the cage. He eventually uses the position to get back to his feet. The fighters clinch briefly and then Diakiese breaks free. Duffy with a low kick now. Diakiese leaps in with a combination but Joseph counters nicely with a hook. Duffy with pressure now. Diakiese circles along the fence. Marc with a heavy low kick that sends Duffy to the canvas. The Irishman pops right back up to his feet but his leg is busted up. Diakiese attempts a wheel kick that misses. He switches stances and then steps in with a combination. A hard left elbow floors Duffy. Diakiese does not pounce but instead waves Duffy to return to his feet. Joseph gets up and snaps off a nice combination. He throws a back elbow. The horn sounds to end round one.

The octagon returns to England today for UFC London, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by a welterweight bout between Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal. Darren Till (17-1-1 MMA) enters tonight’s headliner looking to rebound, this after suffering the first loss of his career to Tyron Woodley at UFC 228.

Josh Emmett was on the rise in the featherweight division. He shocked many by knocking out Ricardo Lamas to put himself into the top-10 of the division. There, Emmett was looking to build off the win and become a title contender. His next fight was in the main event when he took on Jeremy Stephens. Emmett had some success in the fight until Stephens landed a nice combination of punches and elbows which knocked Emmett out. To make matters worse, Emmett dealt with a bevy of injuries which has kept him out of the Octagon for over a year.

Ben Askren will have a close eye on the UFC London main event, which pits Jorge Masvidal against Darren Till, as he’s already been linked to a fight with the winner of the bout. He’s also bound to be watching the UFC London co-main event, which pits welterweight contenders Gunnar Nelson and Leon Edwards against each other, as a bout with either man is very possible for him down the road. In a video posted to the UFC Europe Twitter account, Ben Askren made a prediction for Jorge Masvidal vs. Darren Till and Leon Edwards vs. Gunnar Nelson at UFC London.

Husband pleads no contest in Rachael Ostovich domestic violence case

Back in November, UFC flyweight Rachael Ostovich was attacked by her husband Arnold Berdon, also an MMA Fighter. This grisly incident, which Ostovich was thankfully able to escape, left her in the hospital with a broken orbital bone. Berdon was initially charged with attempted murder, but this charge was later demoted to second-degree assault, a felony. He previously plead not guilty, but according to a report from MMA Fighting, has pleaded no contest. Per MMA Fighting‘s report, “the no-contest plea means Berdon will not contest the case, but he does not admit guilt. It is considered a conviction.”
Alleged phone-smash victim sues Conor McGregor

According to a report from the Associated Press, which has been confirmed by MMA Fighting, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor is now being sued by Ahmed Abdirzak, the man who’s cell phone he allegedly smashed in Miami on Monday. Abdirzak is seeking more than $15,000 in damages, accusing Conor McGregor of battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

This UFC London card will be headlined by a crucial welterweight contender bout between former title challenger Darren Till and ferocious veteran Jorge Masvidal.
