The octagon returns to Pennsylvania this evening for UFC Philadelphia, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by a lightweight scrap between Edson Barboza and Justin Gaethje. The former World Series of Fighting lightweight champion, Gaethje, will be looking to build off the momentum of his first-round knockout victory over James Vick this past August in Lincoln.

Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor had a heated rivalry in the lead up to their featherweight title fight at UFC 194 in December of 2015. McGregor taunted Aldo profusely at the pre-fight press conferences before eventually knocking out the long time 145-pound kingpin in just thirteen-seconds (twelve if you ask Conor) in the fight itself.

Current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov will be back in September, this according to UFC President Dana White. “The Eagle”, who was last seen in action against Conor McGregor this past October, is currently serving a suspension for his involvement in the now infamous UFC 229 post-fight brawl.

It was a rather easy selection for UFC officials, as “The Count” was not only one of the most winningest fighters in promotional history, but he was also the UFC’s first ever British champion.

Unfortunately, this incredible success didn’t carry into the first phases of 2019, as he lost his first bout of the year, succumbing to a storm of strikes from Won Il Kwon in Jakarta in January. With some time between himself and this tough setback, Engelen admits that he wasn’t as focused as he should have been heading into the matchup.

On June 22, Bellator MMA will return to the United Kingdom with the aptly titled Bellator London card. The promotion has already begun stacking this event, adding a trio of big names to the bill in Gegard Mousasi, Paul Daley and James Gallagher (via MMA Junkie). Gegard Mousasi will defend his Bellator middleweight title on the card, taking on the streaking Rafael Lovato Jr. This fight was originally expected to occur in June, but was unfortunately delayed when Mousasi sustained an injury.

In 2011, Filipino Wushu specialist Eduard Folayang was invited to headline the debut event from a brand new promotion called ONE Fighting Championship. Folayang was originally booked to fight fellow Filipino Ole Laursen on the card, but was later matched up with streaking Korean A Sol Kwon when Laursen was sidelined with a knee injury. Folayang prevailed despite the opponent change, winning a unanimous decision. Almost eight years later, Folayang has competed 14 more times for this promotion (which has since dropped the word “Fighting” from its name).
