Gaethje entered tonight’s main event on the heels of a first round knockout victory over James Vick at UFC Lincoln.

As for Barboza, the feared Brazilian striker had most recently competed at UFC on FOX 31, where he scored a third round TKO victory over Dan Hooker.

Tonight’s UFC Philadelphia main event was billed as a strikers delight featuring two of the most dangerous finishers in the sport.

Thankfully the fight proved to be everything fight fans had hoped for and likely exceeded some folks expectations.

Barboza and Gaethje started by exchanging low kicks before ultimately throwing caution to wind and throwing heavy leather.

Justin Gaethje would hurt Edson Barboza early, but the Brazilian bravely stood in the pocket and proceed to trade bombs with the former WSOF champion.

Eventually Gaethje would land a big overhand right which sent Barboza crashing to the canvas. No follow up strikes were needed as Edson was already out cold.

The victory marked Gaethje’s second in a row, with both wins coming via first-round knockout.
