Nate Diaz calls to ‘whoop’ Mike Perry in MMA rematch despite growing retirement calls

Former UFC superstar Nate Diaz wants to run it back with Bare Knuckle FC standout Mike Perry for his targeted Mixed Martial Arts return.

Nate Diaz’s highly anticipated return to Mixed Martial Arts ended in a decisive loss to Bare Knuckle FC standout Mike Perry on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card earlier this year. Diaz, who hadn’t fought since his UFC finale against Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, lost to Perry by TKO (corner stoppage) in the co-main event of Most Valuable Promotions’ first MMA card.

After his sluggish performance against Perry, many of Diaz’s loyal supporters called on the UFC legend to retire from Mixed Martial Arts. But the 41-year-old Diaz brushed aside those calls and isn’t backing down from a potential UFC reunion soon.

Diaz will likely have plenty of options for his combat sports return once he’s ready to go, including another potential MMA fight. His two-time UFC rival, Conor McGregor, will return to the Octagon at UFC 329 this weekend, and a trilogy between Diaz and McGregor remains a desirable matchup for many fans and pundits.

As Diaz plots his latest comeback, he wants to run it back with Perry, despite the lopsided nature of their first bout.

In a recent tweet, Diaz pointed to Perry as his desired opponent for his next fight.

“Back in action upward movement,” Diaz posted.

“Road to whoop this mother——- a–.”

Perry appeared to indirectly acknowledge Diaz’s callout in a Fourth of July post.

“We got options! Happy 4th!” Perry said.

Perry’s MMA win against Diaz was his first victory in the cage since June 2020, in what would turn out to be his final UFC win. He then turned his attention to bare-knuckle fighting and is arguably the biggest star on the current Bare Knuckle FC roster.

Diaz was previously linked to a bare-knuckle showdown with Perry before their MMA matchup came to fruition. BKFC executive Dave Feldman has repeatedly teased signing Diaz to a lucrative contract in recent years.
