Mike Perry calls for future showdown against Conor McGregor following BKFC beef

Former UFC star and bare-knuckle boxing superstar Mike Perry has called for a future showdown against Conor McGregor.

When you talk about fighters who have made a success of their post-UFC career, Mike Perry has to be located towards the top of the list. While his UFC run wasn’t exactly much to write home about, ‘Platinum’ has done an excellent job of carving out a new legacy for himself, largely through bare-knuckle boxing in BKFC.

Alongside that, Perry has also had an interesting ‘cold war’ type of rivalry with one of BKFC’s big bosses, Conor McGregor. The Irishman has teased throwing down with Mike at various points, and it certainly seems like the feeling is mutual.

In a recent interview, Perry went into more detail about potentially getting a fight booked against McGregor.

Perry contemplates McGregor showdown

“I kind of had an idea that I was going to be doing some good stuff,” Perry told MMA Junkie when asked about his successful post-UFC run. “I work really hard, and I’m actually really freaking tough and good and strong, and I’m good at fighting. So I always believed that I would be doing something – or, I still believe that the return to the UFC is coming. Other guys have done it. I go out here and have success. I think there are some fights in the UFC that got my name on them.”

“That f*cking motherf*cker,” Perry said. “He’s always talking shit while I’m out here fighting and working. And I would love to (fight him). One, I already did take the trilogy with Nate from him, and I’ve got to go out here and perform on May 16. Then, yeah, absolutely: Me and him. UFC, hit me up. We’ll make the McGregor fight. We’ll fight at 170. I’m going to 170 for this one, and I’m going to shut his mouth.”

“Well, that’s the thing, right? I don’t think UFC is letting go of those two Conor McGregor fights,” Perry said. “That’s why he hasn’t fought in so long. They used those two McGregor fights for the Paramount deal. That’s what everybody says, right? McGregor definitely makes waves. The Irish fan base, the European fan base, they really show up for McGregor, and I would love for all those people to see me beat him.”
