With UFC 197 less than a month away, the main event title fight between the current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones could potentially be on rocky roads after Jones was arrested on Tuesday for violating his probation.

Jones’ management released the following statement to MMA Fighting:

“Jon and his team are taking this very seriously, and we will let the legal process play out.

“We are confident he will be released once he has an opportunity to explain to the judge the facts in this case.”

The UFC also released a statement to the media after news of Jones’ arrest came to light.

“UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department this morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week.

“UFC has been in touch with Jones’ legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information.”

With the bout potentially in jeopardy, MMA Fighting also reports good news for fans of Jones and Cormier. The report says that sources close to Jones are “confident this latest situation will be resolved in short order and that it won’t affect his ability to fight Daniel Cormier” at UFC 197.
