Jon Jones News
Following good news from his attorney, Jon Jones sends a message to the light heavyweight division
Chris Taylor - October 24, 2016
Jon “Bones” Jones received some very good news today, as his attorney Howard Jacobs revealed some positive details regarding his failed drug tests for banned substances on The Luke Thomas Show. “We’ve been able to establish the source of the prohibited substances,” Jacobs said (transcribed by Jed Meshew of MMA Fighting). “It came from a product that Jon took that was not labeled with either of these substances. We had it tested, the product was contaminated with both of them. I know USADA also independently had the product tested; their testing confirms what we found. We then sent essentially the same pills that we had had tested to be tested by USADA’s lab, which also found the same thing. So pretty much every time it’s been tested, it’s shown that the product is contaminated with both clomiphene and Letrozole, the two substances (Jones tested positive for).”

REPORT: Jon Jones could return sooner than thought
Scott Hernandez - October 21, 2016
Jon Jones was unceremoniously pulled from a milestone event in UFC 200 after USADA flagged him for a positive drug test. Just days before he was set to rematch Daniel Cormier to unify the light heavyweight belts, Jones was forced off the card and replaced with Anderson Silva, who stepped in following Jones’ failed drug test. Recent revelations however suggest that Jones may not have been misleading when they blamed the failed tests on tainted supplements.

On December 10, in the main event of UFC 206, Daniel Cormier will attempt to defend the UFC light heavyweight title against streaking contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. Cormier will enter the bout having recently defeated middleweight great Anderson “The Spider” Silva in a last-minute, non-title light heavyweight showdown on the main card of UFC 200. Rumble, meanwhile, will enter the fight with three straight knockout victories behind him, having recently snuffed Jimi Manuwa, Ryan Bader, and most recently, former title challenger Glover Teixeira. Whoever emerges as the victor of this bout will stand out as the bona fide best light heavyweight currently competing in the UFC.

Jon Jones NSAC hearing postponed
Scott Hernandez - October 5, 2016
It looks as though the MMA community will have to wait longer for the return of pound for pound kingpin, interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. After it was revealed last month that Jones would be appearing in front of the NSAC on October 10th along with Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor, who could be facing repercussions for their UFC 202 water bottle fight, many expected Jones to return to the Octagon sooner rather than later given that UFC President Dana White previously stated that Jones’ appeal process was going well.

Tom Taylor - September 27, 2016
UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12 in New York City, is quickly emerging as one of the greatest fight cards in MMA history. So long as it isn’t ravaged by injuries or PED-busts – knock on wood – it might actually take that title outright. The card, which will emanate from Madison Square Garden – the setting of such iconic boxing matches as Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier 1 and Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield – has been packed to the rafters with some of the UFC’s very best talent.

In the end, Jones would walk away with a unanimous decision win, though many parties believed Gustafsson had done enough to steal the title. Today, Jones is neck-deep in a complicated stretch that has seen him detained for a laundry list of crimes, stripped of his UFC title, and suspended for failing a USADA-administered drug test.
