Joe Pyfer expects to make a statement against Israel Adesanya at UFC Seattle.

Pyfer is set to headline UFC Seattle on March 28 against Adesanya in a pivotal fight for the middleweight division. If Pyfer wins, he’ll be in the title picture, so he knows this is a massive fight for him.

Although Joe Pyfer is fighting a former champion and a legend of the sport, he has plenty of confidence in himself. Not only does Pyfer expect to win, but he also believes he will badly finish Adesanya.

“I got this opportunity, and I’m absolutely bringing the heat,” Pyfer said to Ariel Helwani. “I’m going to try to be the first one to stop him in a really bad way. In a competitive way, and I hope we’re both healthy afterwards, but I know I have those capabilities over anyone in the division to really hurt someone where they don’t move. I’m just excited to test my skills.”

If Pyfer can have a violent finish of Adesanya, it would be a statement win that he’s after.

Joe Pyfer is ‘grateful’ to face Israel Adesanya

Although Joe Pyfer is planning for a violent finish of Israel Adesanya at UFC Seattle, he is grateful that the former champion took the fight.

Pyfer knows Adesanya likely could have had his pick of opponents, so he’s glad he will get the chance to fight the former champion.

“Izzy, was not on the radar, and when they said it, I was just grateful,” Pyfer said. “It could have been anybody, but it’s me. It’s little Joey P. The way my story is, it can’t be written any better, all the adversity I’ve had, the journey I’ve been on, the ups, the downs, the sickness, the injuries. I finally get my chance and it’s fair game.”

Pyfer is 15-3 as a pro and is coming off a submission win over Abus Magomedov back in October. He’s currently ranked 15th at middleweight.
