There remains no love between UFC featherweights Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell ahead of their rematch on the grappling mats.

UFC 314 last year, headlined by a vacant featherweight title bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes, was one of the biggest UFC events of 2025. The bout featured action from top-to-bottom, and ended with Volkanovski reclaiming the UFC featherweight title after suffering through his first losing skid.

One of the biggest fights of UFC 314 ended up being a featherweight grudge match between then-surging contenders Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell. After Mitchell sparked outrage with several controversial remarks on his podcast, he drew the ire of UFC CEO Dana White and others ahead of his matchup with Silva.

Silva went on to defeat Mitchell by second-round submission at UFC 314 in front of a raucous crowd in Miami. Despite being a full year removed from their UFC 314 showdown, tensions remain thick between Silva and Mitchell, as they prepare to square off once again.

Silva and Mitchell will clash in a submission grappling match at Hype Brazil on Wednesday, March 11th, in Rio de Janeiro. Before the event, Silva and Mitchell reunited in a pre-match faceoff, and things got testy in a hurry.

After submitting Mitchell, Silva lost to Diego Lopes by second-round TKO in September at Noche UFC 3. He most recently defeated Arnold Allen by unanimous decision at UFC 324 to get back into the featherweight title mix.

As for Mitchell, he hasn’t fought since defeating Said Nurmagomedov by unanimous decision at UFC Abu Dhabi last July. Mitchell remains uncertain about his UFC future and admits retiring from MMA is an option on his radar.

The card is headlined by a matchup between UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan and former UFC flyweight Muhammad Mokaev.
