Jean Silva vs. Bryce Mitchell rematch booked as heated UFC featherweight feud reignites

UFC featherweights Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell will write the second chapter of their rivalry in an upcoming bout.

In one of the most underrated feuds in UFC history, featherweights Jean Silva and Bryce Mitchell put on a show in the buildup to their fight at UFC 314. Just weeks after Mitchell made controversial remarks that led UFC CEO Dana White to blast him publicly, the matchmakers booked Mitchell against the surging Silva.

Silva went on to sleep Mitchell inside the Octagon at UFC 314, submitting ‘Thug Nasty’ in the second round. Since their fight at UFC 314, tensions haven’t dissipated between Silva and Mitchell, as both featherweights look to get back into the title mix.

Mitchell recently hinted that he might retire soon if the UFC matchmakers don’t offer him a fight in the coming months. Meanwhile, Silva is on the verge of a potential title shot after defeating Arnold Allen by unanimous decision at UFC 324.

As both fighters prepare for their returns to the cage, Silva and Mitchell will run it back in an upcoming submission grappling match.

Jean Silva vs. Bryce Mitchell 2 set for upcoming submission grappling match

As announced on Wednesday, Silva and Mitchell will battle in a submission-only grappling match on March 11th in Rio de Janeiro. Silva vs. Mitchell is part of a stacked grappling card featuring the combat sports return of Jorge Masvidal.

A rematch between Real American Freestyle foes Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas was announced for the card. Still, Poullas turned down the bout to focus on renegotiating a rematch under the RAF banner. Tsarukyan and Poullas got into an all-out brawl following their wrestling match at RAF 6 last weekend.

Regardless of the Silva vs. Mitchell outcome, it’ll be interesting to see if the two UFC featherweights can put their past blood aside at Hype Brazil.
