UFC Vegas 119 weigh-in results: Undercard fighter botches on scale, headliners Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi on point

One fighter on the UFC Vegas 119 card failed to make his contracted weight on Friday, but there is good news.

Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi avoided weigh-in mishaps prior to Saturday’s card. That’s music to the ears of fight fans given that the two will be headlining UFC Vegas 119, which will be held at the Meta Apex. In fact, all competitors scheduled for the main card were able to clock in at the weights they agreed upon.

The lone fighter who didn’t make weight was Kevin Borjas, who clocked in at 129 pounds. That is three pounds over the flyweight limit for a non-title fight. He will need to forfeit 20 percent of his fight purse. His opponent, Andre Lima, tipped the scales at the 126-pound limit.

Headliners Horiguchi and Kape have met before in pro MMA competition. Back in late 2017, the two went one-on-one in a semifinal bout in the Rizin Bantamweight Grand Prix. Horiguchi emerged victorious via third-round submission. He ended up winning the tournament when he knocked out Shintaro Ishiwatari in the finals.
